New BTEC Level 2

Pearson are developing a new tech award for 2017.

Designed for pre-16 learners to study whilst at

school alongside other level 2 qualifications.

No ‘drop down’ level 1 option.

New BTEC Level 2It will be designed to fully meet performance

measures.

Focus on motivational and engaging tasks for

students to enable informed progression to:

•post-16 learning

•NQF BTEC Level 3 Sport and Sport and Exercise

Sciences qualifications

Approaches to Assessment

• Majority of the qualification will be internally

assessed.

• External assessment is going to be more

vocational – task based approach.

New BTEC Level 2

Grading

• We are in discussions with DfE and other

stakeholders about the most appropriate grading

system.

New BTEC Level 2

Current QCF BTEC Level 1 in

Sport and Active Leisure

Re-accredited until 2018.

Available in 3 sizes – Award, Certificate

and Diploma.

All internal assessment.

New BTEC Level 1 in Sport

Start Sept 2016.

Graded – Pass, Merit and Distinction.

Progression on to level 2 BTECs

Skills focussed in a broad sense to include

sector, functional Maths and English and

transferable pre-employment softer skills.
