Background
In 2010 the Survey was completed by approximately 17,700 students, Years 9-12.
The need to up-date emerged:– Feedback from regions and schools – New School Leaving Age Legislation– Requests for access to more data at the school level – Re-design of the Feedback Report
The desire to provide an online career & transition planning template for students in Year 9-12
Student access:
Students will need:
1. Unique DEC User Name (do not share with others!)
2. Their personal Password
3. Know how / where to access their Student Portal
School Report
The school report:o Aggregates data provided by students
o Q 2,3,4,6,11,15,16,17,19/20,23.o Factor areas identified earlier
o Is on-line and interactive
o Enables the selection of a variety of reportso Total year groupso Gendero ATSIo Disabilityo LBOTEo Custom group
o Selection of reports will be by calendar year
Student Voice
The Survey: supports individual students (Years 9-12) with career and transition planning
provides students and schools with evidence-based data
supports students’ capacity to self-manage their career planning
provides students with an opportunity for self-reflection
enables students to reflect on career confidence
provides prompts for their further consideration and action
is personalised and enables students to listen to their own thinking
can be utilised for a Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) or an Individual Education Plan (IEP) as well as Career and Transition Planning.
Usefulness
provides a medium for student voice
has the capacity to be utilised for student’s personalised career and transition planning
provides evidence-based data
enables informed school planning that can support students career development
supports Principals in Annual School Reporting (ASR)
Provides evidence of students intention to stay at school – Student engagement and attainment
Supports schools to meet outcomes identified in Our 15 -19 Year Olds Education and Training Strategy and the directions of Public Schools NSW
Aligns with the intention of the National Partnership for Youth Attainment and Transitions
