New Staff Introductions
• Ken Newton• Patrick Bingham
Fiscal Year 2013 Budget• Budgets being finalized now• Supplies and expenses: no net increase• Salaries: 2.5% pool for merit increases
Wavemail Update• Migrate Wavemail users from Live.Edu to Office365• Migration is for current Wavemail users, only • Expect to take place over Easter weekend• Includes a 25Gb mailbox, Mac support• Expect Skydrive to go away soon
• After this migration is complete, email team will begin process to move all remaining on-premises Exchange users to Wavemail• About 3500 on-premises accounts still to migrate• About 1000 resource calendars still to migrate
LMS Update• Raised four separate LMS test servers to support:
• Blackboard 9.1• Desire to Learn• Instructure Canvas• Moodle
• Pilot incorporates ~60 faculty and ~700 students
• Gathering data and opinions over course of current academic year
• Will evaluate with Provost Office and make LMS recommendation for year-long implementation during Fall 2012/Spring 2013 academic year
Security Team Update• Currently ~450 encryption installs across all
campuses• Seeing user base beginning to accept encryption
as “fact of life”• Rolling out new tools to allow users to self-
service some aspects of support• Mobile device security
• No standard way to encrypt – fragmented market• Everyone should at least number lock their devices• New OWA (Wavemail) feature – remotely wipe any
mobile device
• Anti-phishing initiatives successful: no compromised accounts reported in three weeks
Technology Connection Update• New iPads announced – expecting delivery of
pre-orders and store stick on Friday
• Store operating on a “break-even” basis
Major Projects Update• Desktop management/KASE (Randy/John)
• Now in production mode• Deployed to:
• Uptown public computing spaces and technology classrooms• Primate Center
• In depth demo at next CITAC meeting• Technology Services Center (Corliss)
• Service center furniture and counter installed• Onsite team moved back to Central in new offices
• Surgical video system (Don)• Completed successful pilot broadcast between hospital OR and
Gross Anatomy Labs in October• Working with Anatomy Dept. and SoM Dean’s office to design and
implement permanent system• Active Directory migration (Larry/Randy)
• First scheduled migration: HTML – working with Lewis Cartee• Still need to schedule uptown TS migration as model for further
migrations
Major Projects Update• CATV / IPTV (Derek)
• Replace aging CATV RF system with IPTV• Working with national vendor (CTV) and local Cox franchise to
develop competing IPTV solution for campus• Developing IPTV now positions the university for additional
services down the road
• CRM deployment (Derek)• Framework now exists for creating an incident management
system with CRM• Deciding whether to implement or use a different service
• Move-in Day planning (Corliss/Larry)• Dates: August 25 & 26; planning getting underway now• Housing will pay for Student IT Guide publication• Still trying to locate a single venue for both days• Planning for similar “new student” event on downtown campus
Major Projects Update• “Staff-Picks” project (Gina)
• Gina and Carrie have setup employee profile pages – need bios (approx. 100 words) to go with portraits
• Gina wants “staff-picks” – interesting and useful URLS and online resources – to post on TS site
• Sheldon will schedule dates to take remaining staff portraits• Uptown, downtown, Primate Center
• New Employee Orientation video (Sheldon)• Working on a list of things new employees need to know• Short videos of the answers

2. Most of Classroom & Media team moves to old SA offices
3. Repair Station moves to part of old Classroom &Media offices

5. Videoconferencing moves to Central 101 (was Laptop Station)
6. Classroom support moves to Central 102 (was Laptop Station)
7. Communication team moves within existing HTML space
8. Onsite team moves from 1334 Audubon to Central 104
