Geographical features of Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh is located in the southern peninsula of India and has a coast line of 972 km.

The state of Andhra Pradesh is bound by Chhattisgarh on the north, Odisha on the northeast, Telangana and Karnataka on the west, Tamil Nadu on the south, and the Bay of Bengal on the east.

Its Geographical area is 160,205 (sq km)

Number of Administrative districts are 13

Population density is 308 (persons per sq km)

New memorandum of understandings (MoUs) signed

6 MoUs in Japan :

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, along with his ministerial delegation, During his five-day visit starting from November 24 signed six MoUs in Japan covering sectors including agriculture and food processing, power, modern urban transport systems and clean energy.

Of the planned MoUs, at least four of them will be inked with Sumitomo Corporation in the areas of food processing, employing modern agriculture equipment, securing funding for the proposed 4,000-Mw coal-fired thermal power plant in Srikakulam district and on strategies in waste management and latest surface transport models.

MOU with EROS International PLc

The Andhra Pradesh (AP) government and the UK-based Eros Investments Limited (EIL), a subsidiary of NYSE-listed EROS International Plc., on November 23 inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to set up a multi-billion dollar Entertainment City (EC).

This would give a huge fillip to tourism and create employment, infrastructure and usher in investments into Andhra Pradesh.

The proposed EC will comprise a media city, an amusement park, commercial and residential spaces, hotels and leisure and healthcare facilities. The integrated media city will have pre-production, production and post-production facilities for film, television and advertising industries, according to an official press release.

The amount estimation initially for building was 5 billion but all the other facilities overall added up to 10 billions

New Targets and Results of Government for future

Vision 2029 for Andhra Pradesh :AP state government has set a target of transforming AP into a developed state by 2029.

his will be achieved by implementing seven missions that will be headed by Chief Minister as chairman, a minister as vice-chairman and an IAS officer as coordinator to periodically review the performance.

The 7 missions are primary, urban, industry, infrastructure, service sector, skill development and social empowerment.

As part of primary mission, government plans to take up restoration of all the water bodies and water harvesting structures, go for artificial recharge and conjunctive use, reduce waste of horticulture produce and ensure enhanced post production processing capacity.

Urban Mission with smart cities will be achieved through institutional reforms. Better urban planning, poverty alleviation and housing, security and safety, economy and environment and service delivery are important components of urban mission.

Industry mission includes promotion of manufacturing sector, energy, mines and Quarrying. Infrastructure Mission is to Transform AP into a National and International Logistic Hub, relook into Industrial policy, create PPP strategy and rereation of athority under infrastructure Act, etablish trgets for 2019–20, enance ease of doing business.

Service Mission will have focus on ITIR, IT Regions and ITES, tourism sector, hotel, real estate and banking, transport and logistics, warehousing and markets.Skill development mission will work on forecasting, industry collaboration, reaching out to unemployed, quality education, institutional availability, soft skills, sector analysis, skill gap, technical education, placement facilitation and knowledge management.

Social Empowerment Mission would focus on improving the service delivery in public health and educational institutions to globally appreciable standards and achieve the millennium developmental goals.

Emerging Policies:

Andhra Pradesh Innovation & Start-up Policy 2014-2020 :A state needs world class scientific and technology ecosystems that would empower and enable its youth to carry out this fundamental duty to our beloved nation. For the development of Innovation ,entrepreneurship and Start-up culture in the State, Andhra Pradesh proposes to set up an Innovation & Capacity Building Mission (vision 2029).By 2029 Andhra Pradesh is aiming to top among the states of India.

ICT Policy 2010-2015 :The Government had announced the ICT policy for promoting the growth of Information Technology (IT) sector, generation of employment, augmenting the Gross State Domestic Product(GSDP) and for overall

socioeconomic development of the State.

Andhra Pradesh Electronics Policy 2014-2020 :

Government toolk this policy for development of Electronics &ICT Industry in the State. It has laid out a vision to :

“Develop AP as an Innovation Society of global repute, with a focus on enhancing the Quality of Life of its citizens, through high-quality Education and Healthcare, increased productivity in Agriculture and allied activities, creation of Employment by promoting Electronics and IT, and above all, by providing Good Governance.”

New Industrial Policies

On September 16 the government of AP inked 10 MoUs.

The total investment from NTPC, Solar, Hero and Defence investments is over Rs80,000 crore (this excludes the Power for All programme).

The most important of all is the ‘Power for All’ programme which was signed between Government of India and the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

1. Another MoU was signed between the state government and NTP for 1,000MW solar park.

2. The Chief Minister handed over 1,200 acres of land by APIIC to NTPC for 4,000MW Super Critical UMPP at Pudimadaka in Visakhapatnam district.

• 3. An MoU between MNRE, Government of India and Government of AP for 2,500MW Ultra Mega Solar Power Project (UMSPP).

4. An MoU between SECI and Genco/NREDCAP for the development of 2,500MW Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects.

5. MoU between Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and State Energy Conversation Mission (SECM) for energy efficiency and conservation measures in AP.

6. Another MoU between Energy Efficiency services Ltd. (EESL) and NREDCAP for logistics support in Energy Efficiency and Conservation measures in AP.

7. Sri Rakesh Vashisht, general manager corporate of Hero MotoCorp inked MoU between Hero MotoCorp and Government of AP for allotment of 600 acres of land in Madannapalem village of Satyavedu mandal of Chittoor district, with an investment of over 3,000 crore.

9. Provisional allotment letter given to SAMEER (Society for Applied Microwave Electromagnetic Engineering & Research, Govt of India) to allot 13 acres to SAMEER in Ganbheeram village of Anandapuram mandal in Visakhapatnam.

HARITA PROJECT :Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu said the state government is considering implementation of HARITA (Harmonized Information of Agriculture, Revenue & Irrigation for a Transformation Agenda), as part of creating information-highway in the state.

PILOT PROJECT :Andhra Pradesh (AP) has been chosen as the first state to implement the Central's pilot project of uninterrupted power supply.

The pilot project will be implemented in 3 districts with a cost of INR 30 crores.

Ecological policies

VanamahotsavamChandrababu Naidu said Vanamahotsavam will be celebrated as a state event by involving school children, community members and officials.

The state government has proposed to plant 25 crore saplings in the

subsequent years.

One day in the month of November will be declared as a state event and notified as an optional holiday.

The tree-planting drive is part of the government’s plan to transform Andhra Pradesh into a green state. Currently, the state has a green cover of 23% and aims to increase it to the desired national goal of 33%.

Recent fund allotment of government for development

The Andhra Pradesh government recently announced modalities for building the capital, for which it had proposed to acquire 30,000 hectares across the River Krishna in Guntur district.

AP released INR 800 crore for Gram Panchayats and their development.

For roads in urban areas, the Chief Minister granted INR 107 crore to be utilized.

50 INR crore to be released for planting saplings.

The Pollution Control Board officials have been directed to utilize funds worth INR 8 crore.
