The America21-BDPA Innovation Leadership Summit & Dinner is a networking event in concert with the 34th Annual Black Data Processing Associates Conference in Baltimore, Maryland at the Baltimore Hilton Hotel on July 31, 2012. This unique summit will focus on the challenges and opportunities in developing an innovation ecosystem and infrastructure that nurtures job growth and wealth creation, from the pipeline of STEM education to the productivity of tech entrepreneurship and capital investment.This event is for serious-minded leaders who want to change the current economic paradigm and build an access channel for Black America to compete in the 21st century innovation economy.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 34th Annual Na%onal BDPA Technology Conference. This year, the conference will aTract a record number of IT Professionals from around the country. It is the organiza%on’s largest networking opportunity of the year hos%ng more than 400 professionals, students and corporate par%cipants. The official conference dates are Aug. 1-‐4. But we are especially pleased to partner with The America21 Project to convene a cataly%c Leadership Dinner on July 31 that will bring together IT, educa%on, industry and public policy leaders, along with high-‐growth entrepreneurs and investors, to engage in a thought-‐provoking no-‐holds-‐barred in-‐depth analysis and discussion about moving Black America into the 21st century global innova%on economy in exponen%al fashion.
America21 is par%cularly capable of modera%ng this discussion, given the vision and leadership they have demonstrated across the na%on. We look forward to your par%cipa%on and support.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to a cataly%c event that brings together visionary, solu%on-‐oriented thought leaders to engage in a profound dialogue about how Black Americans will compete in the 21st century global innova%on economy.
We’re grateful to the NBDPA for its leadership and partnership that has laid a founda%on upon which we can support tomorrow’s innovators and entrepreneurs.
The America21-‐BDPA Leadership Summit and Dinner is a first step in our efforts to build vibrant and inclusive venture ecosystems in our communi%es, and connec%ng them to regional innova%on clusters and opportunity. Our first step is to acknowledge the challenges but embrace the opportuni%es.
America21 works through a framework built upon three core pillars:
§ STEM Educa%on & Workforce Development,
§ High-‐Growth Entrepreneurship, and

1. Broaden the economic narra%ve across Urban America
2. Build sustainable innova%on-‐venture ecosystems within our urban communi%es
3. Connect economically disconnected sectors to regional innova%on clusters and economic opportunity
What: The America21-‐BDPA Leadership Summit & Dinner will be a gathering of leadership among innova%on ecosystem stakeholders in the Northern Virginia – DC -‐ Bal%more region represen%ng entrepreneurs, investors, policy makers and universi%es. The 2.5-‐hour dinner program will present a compelling vision for developing a vibrant and inclusive Innova%on Venture Ecosystem among African-‐Americans in the Bal%more region and across the na%on. Why: There is a significant lack of venture-‐entrepreneurial deal flow in our community. The BDPA conference represents an opportunity for Black IT professionals, entrepreneurs, investors, educators and policymakers to gather in one place to discuss how we can create a innova%on-‐venture ecosystem where entrepreneurs and investors can create deal flow, wealth and opportuni%es that will drive economic growth for our community.
