Quick Recap : What is FFF?
Future-Focused Finance is about ‘Making People Count’ by ensuring that everyone connected with NHS finance has access to the relevant skills, methods and opportunities to influence decision making in support of the provision of high-quality patient services. It offers a vision for NHS finance to aspire to over the next five years. That includes everyone who works in finance, in every role at every level, those we work with to deliver services and the patients and communities that use and support those services.
To deliver the transformation required to bring about the vision, work is being undertaken around three strategic themes:

Best Possible Value [Securing Excellence]
What does it mean? :Development of a suite of evidence-based products to support and develop finance professionals in framing difficult questions & making good decisions as well as they possibly can.
So what is happening? :The Bain Model (best possible value decision making framework model) is currently being tested in 2 organisation :• Liverpool CCG (lung services)• Mid-Cheshire FT (elective capacity)
Outcomes to be disseminated via training products to be developed.

Efficient Processes & Systems [Securing Excellence]What does it mean? :To achieve a shift in resources from transactional processes and financial management to activities that add value (such as business partnering) enabling finance to lead the improvement in the value of patient services.

Close Partnering [Knowing the Business] What does it mean? :
To assist finance staff, clinical staff, patients and the public to better understand NHS finance, to work together to produce high value services and to reduce waste in NHS spending.
So what is happening? :

o Finance Educator (FE) network now developing well. Over 100 FEs looking at how to work more closely with finance and non finance staff to deliver meaningful finance information.

To develop a skills framework that will be effective (i.e. used regularly by NHS finance staff) to ensure that individuals have the right skills for the future. Retention of the right people. Focus on individual strengths – people are in the right roles for them.
