What is BULLYING?
Bullying is a form of harassment and is
an on-going misuse of power through
repeated verbal, physical and/or social
behaviour that causes physical or
psychological harm. It can involve an
individual or a group misusing their
power over one or more persons.
Bullying can happen in person or online
and it can be obvious or hidden.
Bullying of any form or for any reason
can have a long-term effect on those
involved, including bystanders.
What is a BYSTANDER?
A bystander is someone who sees bullying happening and chooses to react by
laughing, giggling, pointing, staring, doing nothing, whispering to other people
about it and/or gossiping about it. They might play 'the messenger' between bully
and victim, spread rumours they have heard or join in when a bully is
ignoring/excluding someone. Or a bystander might 'like' or favourite a mean post
on Facebook, Instagram or other social media sites. Being a bystander is like
saying YOU agree with the bully. Not cool.
Did you know that as a young person, you have 50% more chance of
stopping bullying (by standing up and telling the bully that it's NOT ok)
than an adult does?!? Boom!!!
Remember this - there is no place for bullies at Woongarrah FC – there are
consequences for bullies that can result in penalties and punishments being
applied if anyone wants to give it a go, it could result in a player being removed
from the team or suspended from playing the rest of the year.

Woongarrah FC are proud to be a ‘Learning Destination’ for the “Children’s University”. We are looking
forward to working with our junior’s with their chosen activity and rewarding them for their participation
in their “Passport to Learning” as they go.
The Children’s University concept is relatively simple: it offers superior educational experiences for
children aged between 7 and 14 years and volunteering opportunities for 15-18 year olds outside of school
and recognises their achievements through the award of formal certificates and graduations. The model
leverages local educational and learning activity providers (including sports clubs, museums, galleries,
and school clubs) and has a strong emphasis on experience as a significant learning tool, acknowledging
the value of the range of different learning experiences and environments in which children engage. All
learning activities must have a link in some way to a university course eg. Football club = sports
engineering, physiotherapy, management, teaching, sciences etc.
Each child is issued with a Passport to Learning from their school in which the hours of validated activity
are recorded. Once they have reached the required number of hours children will graduate from the
Children’s University. Certificates are presented at graduation ceremonies held once a year at a University
of Newcastle’s Great Hall. Children’s University is child led, meaning that children choose what activities
they would like to participate in, and participation occurs on a voluntary basis.
IS YOUR SCHOOL INVOLVED?
The following schools are participating in this concept:
Wadalba Community School - Wyong Public School - Cooranbong Public School
If your school is NOT listed above, ask them to get involved, it’s FREE – for more information visit their

Starfish 2 kicked off the season with a great start today against Toukley. All the boys played a great game and really put alot
of effort into working as a team which was great to watch.
Well done to Max on receiving the player of the match trophy this week. He ran and kicked his little legs off with a great
amount of goals and a lot of team work.

take a win by a substantial margin. Georgia scored 8 goals, Bella scored 3 goals, Izzabel scored 1 goal

Good game today at Toukley. The boys gave their all in the heat but couldn’t find the net. Unfortunately Toukley provided a

Our first game of the year against a very strong Toukley team was a good start for our boys. Always trying and never giving
up was our Player of the Match Will Ross, a great effort against a much bigger team. Also strong games from John in his

WOW! Game 1 2018 was a cracker!
Our boys have been training well the last
few weeks and didn't it show today! We
travelled to Ourimbah and despite starting
the game with 2 early goals against us -
bounced back to net THIRTEEN of our
own with some epic showings of solid
teamwork! Our player of the week this
week went to Otis - who not once gave up
and proved just as valuable in attack as he
did in defence with some solid 1:1 tackling. Well done mate! Shout out to Liam
who booted 5 of his own, and Corby who was outstanding - showing us pure
speed and power with the boot. Kynan has been listening well in training and
practicing his moves - and it's showing - now he has a taste for goal scoring!
JR showed again why we call him Mr Pressure - he never stopped getting in the way of attacking players. Lucas and Brody
put on a great defensive display - regularly turning their defence into down-the-line attacking plays.
Overall a fantastic effort and I'm proud of all of our boys. We are in for a great season together!

It was a great game with Terrigal a competitive opponent. Lots of tackling, chasing, passing and the boys playing as a team.
2 goals to Kai 2 goals to Kobie and James got 1. A lot of near misses from everyone. Saxon awesome on defence, James, Kai
and Kobie awesome up front. Brendan played well for first game and not knowing the boys. Lachlan has improved so much
and was getting right in there tackling and chasing with the other boys and got player of the match as he showed so much
improvement and gave it 100%

Great to see the team back on the field. Whilst we didn't score a lot of goals, they all remembered how important it was to
pass the ball.
Some great defence from Zak and Kai, who helped stop some goals and actually wanted to stay on the field!! Evie, again
showing how tough she has got, and taking the ball off Terrigal at every chance. Excellent first game for our new team
member Adrian, with lots of ball running and passing.
Man of the Match went to Sam for all his passing, kicking and defence. Great game Sam.
Thanks to Koby and Kai from Woongarah 2 for helping us out in the first half when we were short.

What an opener to the season! We were lucky enough to have our first game of

The boys performed fantastically, showing off their skills and a bagful of goals.
We have welcomed 2 new additions to our soccer family this year and the boys
have fitted in nicely - welcome to our crazy family Mikhail and Chuds.

We had a great first game, our team battled through the sun's heat.
Although we didn't win, we showed off our skills and abilities and were
unlucky not to get more goals. I'm sure the team will gel well as we play
more games together. Noah scored our only goal with a absolute fireball
from 10m out. Jake received the Parent's Choice award, and Lachie M
(Macca) received the Coach's Choice, both for putting in a non-stop
effort with attack and defence.

This weekend we kicked off our first game of the 2018 season. It was an unseasonably hot Autumn day at our home field at
Hamlyn Terrace. However, the players were all bouncing with excitement to get onto the pitch & play their first game.We
welcomed Archer & Xavier from the U9 D’s who came & played for us as we were down a couple of players, thanks for all
your help boys!
Coach Craig prepped the team with some ball basics before the game & kept the team focused & feeling good with lots of
encouragement from the sidelines. The girls started the game strong showing tenacity & a hunger to attempt to score
goals! Everyone defended incredibly well in the first half. In the second half the boys stepped it up a level pushing through
the 29 degree heat & having a few shots at goal. We congratulate Indianna on receiving “player of the match” for round
one.
With Coach Wayne returning to the helm next week, we will surely continue to improve through our weekly training &
game time.“Go Wildcats!”

1st game of the season and our boys went into the game with a winning
attitude-prepared to put 110% in and didn't fail to impress. An 8am start
did nothing to hinder their thirst to start the season off with a win...and
WIN they did.... with NINE Goals!!! Coach Guy's message to the boys was
to put as much pressure on the opposition as possible very early into the
game. Within one minute of the whistle sounding our boys pushed the
ball forward and Aidan put the first goal on the board. Followed by
Conor, Seth (2), Lewis (2), Jacob, Kye & Ashton all scoring for their team.
Great first game with the team to Callan, Aidan, Luke & Nicholas who
have slotted straight into the team. There wasn't a dominant player on
the field - we had a very even contribution from all our players. Our
defence was difficult to penetrate. Tough choice to make for Coach but player of the day was Kye for his Champion Goal
Skills. Special mention also to Rhys for his teamwork and talent in goals for the second half of the game and Aidan for his
dynamic enthusiasm and not slowing down all game. Missed today was Josef & Callum after both boys sustained injuries
during our trials. Get well soon Boys.

Having only had one training session it was great to see how they played together as a team resulting in a 2 all draw.

The team worked together to keep moving the ball down the field and great persistence and some spectacular skills gave us
our two goals scored by Lily and Brodie.

Well, What can I say Saturday the 7th of April saw the start of the
2018 season, and what a start it was. It was a very hot day but our
under 12A’s went out and played outstanding. We played Kariong
and had a convincing win 5-2. To say this team has improved is an
understatement. It was a beautiful game of soccer to watch. Every
boy contributed, and came together as a team until. We could not
choose one player out of all 15 boys as they were all outstanding even in the hot autumn heat that we had. Scores where
Owen, Brodie, Noah and Max.
If this first game is a reflection on how the rest of the year is going to go then we are in for one fantastic year.
Well Done boys your hard work is paying off.
Under 12B – 8-1 WIN against Tuggerah

First game of the season and the boys were raring to go in our away game
vs Tuggerah. We got off to a great start dominating field position for most
of the first half but struggled to break down a stacked Tuggerah defence. A
well worked goal through the middle finally broke the deadlock and we
went into half time 1-0 up.
A flood of goals saw us close the game midway through the second half as
we continued to play a quick passing game through the middle of the park.
A late hat trick from Blake blew the score line out & the boys came away 8-
1 winners. A strong performance to start the season. Super proud of the
effort from the boys.

Well, what a great start to the season. The girls managed to take the pre-game talk and displayed it early. Their sheer
determination to be dominant paid off. Early to the ball and aggression from the forwards right from gosfords kick offs.
With some really good playing to feet, meant the ball moved through the team giving us a comfort lead at half time 4 nil.
All the girls worked extremely hard particularly adapting to a different formation. As said the forwards were aggressive,
mids worked like work horses and the backs were totally composed.
2 goals complete stood out with a sensation left foot strike with sheer force by Holly the other was Abby demonstrating that
a centre back can run the length of the field to score a great goal.
Again girls you've done the coaches and spectators proud. Great season ahead.

A hot and sunny day greeted for our first comp game of the season at our home ground.
The first half was a tight one with end to end action by both clubs before a shot by Ken found the back of the net late in the
first half to put us up 1-0 at the break.
In the second half we got a burst of energy and with great passing on attack we quickly found the net again.
After that we really clicked into gear. Our defence worked well and we were able to turn that good defence into great
attacking opportunities with a final score of 7-0.
A fantastic start to the season with contributions by everyone.
Well done to Ken who picked up both the coaches and players player award this week. Great game Ken!
Woman 15A – 5-0 LOSS against Killarney

A good game where the score did not indicate the game itself. Although 5 nil we had chances in both halves and if it wasn’t
for the efforts of Sam in goals and great defensive efforts by Tayla and Maddie and Shannon and Montanna, the score
would have been higher. Great game by Briley and Nyah who attacked their goal repeatedly without success. Tayla, Maddy
and Aimee tried hard in midfield with Courtney and Mckenzie chasing hard to put their defence under pressure. All in all it
showed that we need some work but we can only improve from here.
Men’s 15B – 2-2 DRAW against Woy Woy

What a tough battle in the first round!
I say battle for good reason as we had at least 5 boys on ice and our newcomer
Sam sent to hospital with a fractured wrist.
The rest of the team stayed on their feet till the end.
We were trailing 2-1 until Sumo put a goal in with minutes to spare. There were
many outstanding players on the field but I have to mention our goal keeper
Mason who had the game of his life saving two in the box penalties, putting his
body on the line to keep them out.
Great team effort boys!

Start of season, very hot day and a very thick and heavy track for first game especially for the mature.
Clearly first game team rust was apparent, but a dogged approach throughout the game scrambling against a team who
have dropped down from 'B' grade with less rust put us in a position to win.
About half way through first half near their 18 yard box we competed hard and won the ball with a quick shot blocked by a
defender which landed at feet of Gerard on the left who hit a great shot into the back top corner for our goal.
As the game went on we continued to scramble in defence and actually had more attacking opportunities in second half
than Terrigal.
Overall for our first serious hit out a good effort with a long season ahead, well done boys!

Reserve Grade – 2-1 WIN against Kincumber
With our pre-season now completed all players were very excited to commence our 2018 season. With Kincumber being a
new club into the SWL competition and our new team, we did not know what to expect. It was a very exciting end to end
game, with both teams creating some very clear scoring opportunities. With fatigue setting in, on both teams it was our
player rotations and short rest breaks that allowed most players to complete at least 70 minutes game time. With the score
ending up in our favour 2-1 this was a fair result and indication of the game.
First Grade 3-3 DRAW against Kincumber
With six players doubling up from the reserve grade game (due to injuries and holidays) we knew this would be a hard game
physically, to match the Kincumber team. Kincumber scored the early goal (long distance goal) which took us a bit by
surprise considering we maintained good possession in midfield. To all player’s credit, they stuck to the game plan and
remained solid in our formation. The second we pressed higher up the pitch which resulted in few more scoring
opportunities than Kincumber. With the score ending up as a draw 3-3 this was a fair result and indication of the game.
Men’s Division 1 Head Coach: Luke Rogers
1st Grade – 7-2 WIN against Gwandalan
Rd 1 was an away game vs Gwandalan. The boys came out firing with a 4-0 lead after just 15 minutes & in that a hat trick to
Jamie Bartlett. After traveling to Sydney mid week & playing NPL 1 side Bonnyrigg white Eagles in an end to end fast paced
game, the boys were still feeling the effects of the big match. We would go into the break with a well deserved 6-1 lead. The
second half was a much closer affair & full credit to a young Gwandalan side who never gave up despite being well behind
on the score board, pushing our boys till the end. The Final score was 7-2. Really impressed on such a hot day how the boys
battled through fatigue to get the 3 points!!! Goals to Jamie Bartlett 3, Alex Govorcin 2, Ben Runge 1, Kane Woolston 1
Man of the Match: Alex Govorcin
Men’s Division 1 Reserve Grade Coach: Christian Smith
Reserve Grade – 5-0 WIN against Gwandalan
This was a great start to the 2018 season in the hot conditions. To come away with a 5-nil win and even better a clean sheet
we controlled the game well with good ball movement and plenty of talk and some class finishing, well done boys on a great
start to the season.
