use past simple in speaking and writing
read correctly the ending “ed”( d ,t,id)
recognize the regular forms f past simple;
ask and answer about past activities
SKILLS: reading, speaking, writing.
MATERIALS: textbook, flashcards, worksheets.

STAGES OF THE LESSON
Activity 1: WARM-UP
Procedure:
Teacher’s activity: The teacher greets the students and asks for absentees. Teacher
remembers the task for the day, to complete - A Liverpool ghost story- from the textbook, with the
correct past tense form of the given verbs and asks Ss to review it quickly to make sure there were no
problems with solving it at home. T corrects the mistakes if any.
Students' activity: Ss greet the T, answer the questions and, in turns, read short paragraphs of it.
Interaction: T-SS
Time: 7 minutes
Activity 2: REVISION
Procedure:
Teacher’s activity: T writes Past simple on the bb and tells Ss that they will do a fixation
lesson. She/ He revises with examples the regular forms (positive, negative, question form with short
answers).
Students’ activity: SS write the title in their notebooks and based on teacher’s examples
they say how we form past simple for regular verbs.
Interaction: T – Ss
Time: 10 minutes
Activity 3: PRACTICE
Procedure:
Teacher’s activity: T gives SS a worksheet and asks S to read the story and to underline the past
simple forms for the regular verbs. Then, T asks SS to write the infinitives of the verbs given.
Students’ activity: Ss read and T explains the new words. The next activity is to write the
infinitives of all past simple forms from the story. (regular verbs)

Time: 15 minutes
Activity 4: PRODUCTION
Procedure:
Teacher’s activity: Teacher gives SS a worksheet and asks them to solve the first two
exercises on it.
Students’ activity: Ss listen T’s explanation and solve the exercises.
Interaction: S-S , T – Ss
Time: 15 minutes
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT: Students have to solve exercise C on the worksheet as
homework.
