Dear Families
Zone Swimmers
Good luck to the Cardiff Public School
Swimming Team who head off to the
Zone Carnival this Thursday at Speers
Point Pool. Each of our swimmers
showed great talent at our carnival,
and I have every confidence that they
will be wonderful representatives of
our school. We wish them well and
know that, no matter the result, we are
proud of them for getting in and
having a go. Good luck, team!
School Start Times
Families are reminded that our
morning supervision begins at 8:45am,
with classes beginning at 9:10am. All
of our students are expected to arrive
between these times. Unfortunately,
we’ve seen a significant number of
students arriving at school before this
time, some as early as 8:15am. Please
be mindful that our teachers are not
on duty at this time and sending your
child early to school can put them at
risk. If you know that your child is
arriving persistently early, then you
may need to consider making
alternative arrangements, e.g. family,
friends or OOSH. Thank you for your
understanding.
Year 6 to 7 Enrolment Procedures
High School Enrolment Forms have
been distributed for students currently
in Year 6. These are due back by 16th
March. The first of Cardiff HS’s
transition sessions takes place on
March 7 with them hosting their Expo
Day, where students experience a
The Cardiff Chronicle
range of activities and explore some of
the opportunities that CHS can offer for
them.
P&C - Annual General Meeting –Mar 13
On Tuesday 13th
March, our P&C will
be holding their AGM. At this meeting,
all executive and representative

nominate and vote for this year’s
positions. These roles include President,
Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary,
C a n t e e n M a n a g e r , U n i f o r m
Coordinator, Canteen Treasurer and
Gift Group Coordinator. To be eligible
to vote, members need to have joined
and paid their $1 fee prior to the
meeting.
New School Zone Traffic Offences
Please be advised that the NSW
government have recently updated
school zone offences by increasing
fines and demerit points. These
changes will help to create and enforce
a safer road environment in school
zones. See the last page for further
details.

is essential if students are to achieve their
potential, and increase their career and life
options.

school is open for their instruction.
They provide an explanation for absences by
means such as a telephone call, written note,
App notification or email to the school within 7
days from the first day of any period of absence
(preferably earlier).

We encourage all of our families to take trips
during school holidays. No exemptions can be
granted for family holidays, however, parents
should contact the school and apply for
extended leave, before they go on holidays.
Leave will only be granted if it is seen to be in
the best interests of the child.
Educational, social and participation reasons
should be specified on the application and
travel documentation should be provided.
