Each of our swimmers showed great talent at our carnival, and I have every confidence that they will be wonderful representatives of our school. We wish them well and know that, no matter the result, we are proud of them for getting in and having a go. Good luck, team! School Start Times Families are reminded that our morning supervision begins at 8:45am, with classes beginning at 9:10am. All of our students are expected to arrive between these times. Unfortunately, we’ve seen a significant number of students arriving at school before this time, some as early as 8:15am. Please be mindful that our teachers are not on duty at this time and sending your child early to school can put them at risk. If you know that your child is arriving persistently early, then you may need to consider making alternative arrangements, e.g. family, friends or OOSH. Thank you for your understanding. Year 6 to 7 Enrolment Procedures High School Enrolment Forms have been distributed for students currently in Year 6. These are due back by 16 th March. The first of Cardiff HS’s transition sessions takes place on March 7 with them hosting their Expo Day, where students experience a The Cardiff Chronicle range of activities and explore some of the opportunities that CHS can offer for them. P&C - Annual General Meeting –Mar 13 On Tuesday 13 th March, our P&C will be holding their AGM. New School Zone Traffic Offences

Please be advised that the NSW

government have recently updated

school zone offences by increasing

fines and demerit points. These

changes will help to create and enforce

a safer road environment in school

Orders can be left at the Admin Office.

These will be filled by the uniform shop

and sent home with the child.

There are previously loved school

uniforms available for purchase from the

uniform shop.

CANTEEN NEWS The new price list has gone home so please check the list for new prices. Some of the items have had to have a price increase and some items have been deleted. PLEASE CHECK PRICE LIST CAREFULLY. If you haven’t received a new price list please ask for one at the canteen. UNIFORM SHOP Just a reminder that the Uniform Shop will be open every Tuesday 8.45 to 9.30am. EFTPOS IS NOT AVAILABLE. CASH ONLY SALES. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you cannot come to the uniform shop orders can be placed at the front office. Orders are now being taken for the new Sports Shirts due to arrive in March 2018. The shirts will go home with your child when they arrive. These shirts are $20.00 each. EFTPOS IS NOT AVAILABLE CASH sales only LAYBY IS WELCOME ALSO. EASTER DONATIONS EASTER is fast approaching so we are asking for donations for our Easter Raffle. I know it’s early but hey they are out in the shops already. Donations can be eggs chocolate fluffy toys or baskets. All donations can be left in the blue crate in the office foyer in the uniform shop or the canteen Al l donations wil l be greatly appreciated. RAFFLE TICKETS will be going home soon so keep an eye out for them in your child’s School bag. All Kindergarten and Stage 1 students need to bring a library bag to school with them on their library day so they can borrow.

This can be;

a store bought bag

an environmentally friendly shopping bag

a sturdy/thick plastic bag

a hand made bag

You can also purchase a library bag for $2 from the library. Designs include owl, unicorn, robot and dinosaur.

Helping your child with reading Reading every day Children value reading through watching their family use reading and writing every day. Encourage your child to read by sharing such activities as: finding brands at the shops reading signs and posters following a street directory checking the television guide choosing a video using a recipe reading game rules reading the newspaper aloud together playing word games or doing crossword puzzles

reading out instructions looking at letterbox leaflets reading magazines, comics, poems and rhymes. Reading aloud together. Children enjoy reading more if it is shared. Make time away from television and interruptions to read aloud with your child.

Regular attendance at school for every student

is essential if students are to achieve their

potential, and increase their career and life

Parents must ensure that their children, who

are enrolled at school, attend every day the

school is open for their instruction.

means such as a telephone call, written note,

App notification or email to the school within 7

days from the first day of any period of absence

(preferably earlier).

Planning a Family Holiday?

We encourage all of our families to take trips

during school holidays. No exemptions can be

granted for family holidays, however, parents

should contact the school and apply for

extended leave, before they go on holidays.

Leave will only be granted if it is seen to be in

the best interests of the child.

Educational, social and participation reasons

should be specified on the application and

travel documentation should be provided.

General Contribution $40.00 pa

Technology Levy $15.00 pa

Larger families are eligible for a

discount.

All money is used to assist with the

purchase of resources for your

children. e.g. paper, paint, iPads, etc.

convenient, part payments can be

made at any time. e.g. $5 per week.
