THANK YOU FOR SILENT AUCTION

ITEMS!

On behalf of the Lottie Moon International Missions Offering, we want to thank you for the many nice items you have given for the

Silent Auction to be held as a part of the Festival of Tables. All money received from these items will be contributed to the

Lottie Moon Offering. We hope some of you will purchase these items for Christmas gifts!

TIME IS RUNNING OUT TO GET TICKETS!

We have less than two weeks until the Festival of

Tables on Friday evening, November 10, at 6 p.m.,

in the Multi-Purpose Room. This will be a special event,

with lovely tables decorated on a biblical theme –

a silent auction in the hallway (from which all profits go

to the Lottie Moon International Missions offering –

and a program related to John 13:35 – “By this shall

all men know that ye are my disciples, if we have

love one to another.”

Come and learn some of the ways our members

demonstrate their love for others.

Tickets are for sale in the hallway of the church and

Ministry Center, before and after services. Cost is $20,

one-half of which will go to the Christmas offering for

Lottie Moon missions, and the remainder will cover food

and costs. We have sold approximately 250 tickets.

FORMER FRIENDLY MEMBER BECOMES

U. S. ATTORNEY FOR EASTERN DISTRICT

Our church has reason to be proud that Robert J. Higdon,

Jr. (“Bobby” to us) was confirmed by the United States

Senate on September 28, 2017, and has taken the oath of

office as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of

North Carolina. Bobby grew up at Friendly, became a

Christian, and has been active in his church as a deacon

and church leader. He is truly a role model for other

Christians!

As U. S. Attorney, he is the top-ranking federal law

enforcement official in the Eastern District of North

Carolina. He oversees a staff of 108 employees. His

office has the responsibility of prosecuting federal crimes

in the district, including those related to terrorism, public

corruption, child exploitation, firearms, and narcotics.

Bobby’s parents, Liz and Jack Higdon, now live in

Greenville, South Carolina. They were very active at

FABC! Bobby visited Friendly in July of this year, when

Johnny Chandler (another FABC former member)

preached here.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Linda Jenkins, FABC member who is Operation Christmas

Child Prayer Mobilization Coordinator, asked that we

remind you to please bring items for OCC shoeboxes.

She said Shelby Hallquist is having the AWANA children

pack some on November 8th, and items you bring will be

most helpful. You can bring toys, school supplies,

toothbrushes, soap, washcloths, combs, accessories (socks,

t-shirts, flip-flops, etc.), and other things. Or you can pack

your own boxes and bring them back to the church.

Collection Week is the week before Thanksgiving.

CHANGE – DIAMOND SET ACTIVITY DAY

The format for the Senior Adult Activity Day set

for Thursday, November 16, will be different from

usual. Instead of meeting at FABC for activities,

a program, and lunch, we will leave at 9:30 a.m. on

the church bus to go to the Greensboro Historical

Museum, where we will have a guided tour at

10 a.m. After the tour, we will go for a “mystery”

luncheon! Contact Doris Henderson

(336-292-3567, Extension 312) to make reservations.

Have Fun Serving Others!!

Stitch’N Time is now meeting every Thursday, 2-4:00!! We’re growing! We are making red scarves for Women’s HeartHealth. These can be knit, crocheted or cut from

fleece.

If you can’t make it to SNT but you can knit or crochet, you can be part of this hands-on ministry from home! You can contribute the yarn or pick up some from Linda Rapp. If you

contribute the yarn, please make sure it’s soft.

We’re also working on items for the VA Hospital in Salisbury, to be delivered in time for Veterans Day on Nov. 11th. Show our Veterans your appreciation! There’s much to do at SNT that does not require sewing! Please come and be a part of our group. We’re Fun! Call Linda Rapp at 336-282-

4563 or email [email protected]

Friendly Women's Ministries

This is the last week that we will have the opportunity

to give to the North Carolina Missions Offering. Our

current total is $6,845.48 Let’s go over our goal of

$7,500 to support the ministries of North Carolina

Baptists.

On the first Sunday of each month, we collect cans

of fruit for Urban Ministries of Greensboro. Let’s

bring enough fruit to fill our boxes next week to

help food-deprived families.

We still need bottles of lotion for our NC prison

ministries. Each bottle should be 8-12 ounces with

no hand pump. Place these in the plastic containers

beside each exit doors.
