Talent
Fusing academia with business helps to
grow a thriving city
Manchester is home to the second largest creative and digital cluster in Europe – the North West as a whole plays host to more than 31,000
companies and nearly 330,000 employees (source: MIDAS). At MediaCityUK, we are working to ensure we have the right mix of academic players
within our community.
The University of Salford; the University Technical College; Salford City College; Oasis Academy and Bright Future are just some of the
names that have joined us on our journey so far and already developed beneficial relationships with the companies here. We also work closely
with organisations offering training, apprenticeship and business advice – including Creative England and Creative Skillset.

Sustainability
Being green and clean at MediaCityUK
is important to us
We were awarded the status of the first sustainable community in the world by BREEAM in 2011 – one of our most innovative measures was the delivery of our own
tri-generation power plant which helps to heat, cool and power the buildings at the heart of MediaCityUK.
In 2013, we won the Sustainability and Environmental Impact Award along with partners Cofely, presented by
the British Institute of Facilities Management.
Developing a green travel infrastructure has always been important to us and so far we’ve brought a new tram
stop to our city, increased bus routes and frequency, and helped to expand cycleways.
