The Kohane Gadol had the names of the Shevatim in 2 places– on his shoulders and over his heart. This teaches us that we must continuously think of our people and have them over our hearts. But that is not enough. We must also have them on our shoulders to carry their burden as well.

VITAL PURIM INFO
There are 4 mitzva requirements on Purim:
1) To hear the Megilla twice (night and day).
2) Mishloach Manos - to give 2 food items to at least 1 person (only purim day).
3) To give Matanos L’evyonim monies for at least 2 needy people (purim day, at least. $20
total ($10 for each)).
4) To have a festive Seudah (feast with wine, purim day).
7) The Chayei Adam (155:30) writes that if one knows that getting drunk will cause him to
mistreat a mitzvah such as making brachos, Birkas HaMazon, or Maariv/Mincha, one
should NOT get drunk. (This is quoted by the Biur Halacha and Kaf HaChaim 695:17)
8.6) This is supported by the Meiri (Megillah 7b) who writes that we’re not commanded to
have happiness of vanity and frivolity, rather happiness that leads to ahavas Hashem and
thanking Him for the miracles He did/does for us.
12.4) On a personal note, the Chayei Adam writes that within one’s Simchas Purim, one
should review for himself the and triumphs of his own life and thank Hashem
specifically for those.
23) Purim is a . Everyone has what to daven for. May Hashem help us to seize
the spiritual opportunities available to us on Purim to catapult us, through simcha, to new
levels which we will retain long afterwards.

The Rambam writes (Hilchos Megilla 2:17):
It is preferable for a person to give more
matanos l’evyonim than to have a more lavish
Purim feast or sending more portions (shalach
manos) to his friends. For there is no greater or
more magnificent happiness than to gladden the
hearts of the poor, the orphans, the widows, and
the converts. One who brings happiness to the
hearts of these individuals resembles
the Shechina.
