Motor Speed versus File Speed-The torque and speed output are exactly the same between the Sequence and Sequence II. - Original EndoSequence measures the speed of the motor on the display panel- EndoSequence II measures the speed of the file on the display panel- When energy is transferred from the motor, through the head there will be a loss of energy. This means that while the motor is turning at a certain speed (Eg. 10,000 rpms) the file doesn’t actually turn at that exact speed divided by 10 (1,000 rpms). - The EndoSequence II corrects the loss by measuring file speed, not motor speed - If you were to compare the two models side by side the Sequence II would show the speed at 900 while the original Sequence would show a speed of 1,000 – even though both files are turning at the same speed. -Imagine two cars are racing neck and neck. One car is being measured in miles per hour while the other is be measured by the rotations of the tire. The cars are traveling at the same speed just being measured differently.

Understanding the Auto Reverse/Stop Features

- One important feature with the EndoSequence II Cordless is the ability to set torque limits.- As with so many facets in dentistry certain parameters are in place to protect the user and/or the patient. Torque limits are in place to prevent undue stress on the file that can cause separation.- The EndoSequence II has a feature that when the torque level is reached the file automatically reverses out of the tooth so the pressure or load on the file is reduced.- The next three slides will explain how the process works

Page 14: VCU - Endo Sequence II

Understanding the Auto Reverse Feature

- When the torque limit is set, the file runs in the forward direction when operating at torque levels lower than the set limit.- When the load on the file reaches the torque limit, the files stops spinning in a forward rotation and instead rotates in reverse.- When a load is removed, the file returns to normal rotation (forward rotation) automatically.

Page 15: VCU - Endo Sequence II

Understanding the Auto Stop Feature

- When the torque limit is set, the file runs in the forward direction when operating at torque levels lower than the set limit.- When the load on the file reaches the torque limit, the files stops spinning in a forward rotation and instead rotates in reverse.- When the load is removed, the file stops automatically. In the Auto Reverse mode the file continues back in the forward direction. In Auto-Stop mode it comes to a complete stop once the load is removed through reverse rotation.-The user will need to press the on/off switch to start the file in forward rotation again.

Understanding the Auto Reverse OFF Feature

- When the torque limit is set, the file runs in the forward direction when operating at torque levels lower than the set limit.- When the load on the file reaches the torque limit, the files stops spinning in a forward rotation and comes to a complete stop (without reverse).- If you want it to rotate (forward-rotate) again, re-press the ON/OFF Key

Setting the Auto Reverse/Stop Feature

- While the motor is stopped, Hold the Select or “S” Key for 1 second or longer.- Continue holding even when you hear the “beep” and see the auto reverse mode flashing.- While holding the Select key, Press the Up/Down key until the desired mode is highlighted. (Now you can stop pressing the Select key).

Hand PlacementA common misconception is that the index finger

should rest on the on/off switch during operation (see figure 1). The EndoSequence II does have a feature that allows the finger to rest on the on/off switch and when lifted off, the file stops. This is done by holding the on/off switch for longer than one second.

To achieve the best control of the handpiece, increase tactile awareness and prevent increase pressure on the file it is recommended that the index finger rest on the head (similar to figure 2) rather than the on/off switch.

It is recommended that the up/down motion be controlled by the fingers – not the wrist

Calibrating the Motor

1. Lubricate the contra angle head with PANA SPRAY. 2. Turn on the power.3. Hold down UP/DOWN key simultaneously for more than one second.4. The LCD panel displays “CAL” with the alarm sound.5. Attach the contra angle head (without file) to the motor handpiece and

press the ON/OFF key. 6. If the motor handpiece begins to rotate, leave it as is until it stops.7. This process ends, if the rotation stops and the LCD panel display

returns to its original state.8. If you want to stop this process, turn off the power.

Over a period of time there can be a fluctuation between the speed of the motor and the difference in torque by the contra angle head. Periodically, the motor can be calibrated to make certain torque and speed levels are accurate.
