Why are we here?
Why are we here?
“In this session, attendees will work with facilitators and each other to build a value stream map for common types of changes (ex. Churro change) to Agile Central.
The goal is to walk away with a better understanding of our current processes and identify a few valuable improvements to make our lives better.”
Agenda● Welcome (5 min)
● Value Stream Mapping (10min)
● Exercise (20 min)
● Share (10 min)

What is value stream mapping?
What the heck is Value Stream Mapping?!
Value Stream Mapping is a visual approach to understand all of the steps in a process - including handoffs, delays,
queues, and failures. Visualizing a process (which no single
person may fully know) helps to identify waste and opportunities for improvement.
Let’s Try An Example!

● Pick a Specific Process● Diagram Process● Annotate Process
Part 2 (10 minutes)
● Discuss Observations● Discuss Options
Part 3 (10 minutes)
● Share
Prep
● Breakup into small groups (6-10) people
● At least a few people should be familiar with the same process
● Some people can just be there to observe
ExerciseStep 1 - 10 Minutes
● Pick a Specific Process and form an Open Space● Diagram The Process
ExerciseStep 2 - 10 Minutes
● Annotate Process (times, delays, handoffs, rework, etc)
● Bonus: Calculate efficiency (active time / total time)● Walk Around observing Open Spaces; ask
questions
ExerciseStep 3 - 10 Minutes
● If you had $50, $20, $20, $10 to invest in improvements to the process, where would you invest your $50 and why?
● Walk Around observing Open Spaces; ask questions
