■ Toxic Chinese medicine banned in Hong Kong.Seven brands of the traditional chinese medicine, NiuHuang Chieh Tu Pien, have been banned by the HongKong government. The action was taken after the pillswere found to contain toxic levels of arsenic (2–4µg);levels > 1.5µg are considered toxic. According topress reports, the medicine may be linked to the deathof a 12-year-old girl last month.
