Since it looks like Saturday is going to be very soggy, cold, and windy (up to 50 mph wind gusts), our annual spring clean-up day has been changed to April 9 at 9:00 AM. Put on your work clothes, a smile, and grab your outdoor tools for a fun day of fellowship and exercise. (Do you like how we snuck in that this is fun?)

Special Congregational Meeting: Sunday, April 24, 9:00 AM
…and then there were four [“full-time” (and one interim) priests, that is,] serving the Episcopal Churches of the Toledo area]. Last month I introduced the challenge before us as a family of closely-related parishes: to explore and develop new models that provide the lay and ordained leadership that gives rise to healthy and vibrant congregations. This challenge continues to grow as two powerful factors converge. Roughly forty percent of our priests will retire from full-time service over the next three to five years. At the same time many congregations experience dwindling numbers – in the realms of both finance and membership. However, all is not doom and gloom! A number of exciting models exist to provide effective leadership, one being a “collaborative parish/team ministry” model. Just such a model is currently under exploration in our region. St. Timothy’s is in a unique position in its life cycle: geographically, physically, and with member and staff (lay and ordained) resources to take on a significant role in this developing model.
During the Adult Ed hour on April 24, I’ll present the emerging model to St. Timothy’s folk (we’ll gather in the parish hall with ample supplies of coffee and a bit more to nibble on). While there will be a brief time for Q&A, we’ll also provide opportunity to continue the discussion in a post-worship session (also to be held in the parish hall during coffee hour). We all have a stake in the direction(s) God’s Spirit seems to be beckoning us. Come meet the opportunities – both exciting and daunting – that are being laid before us!

Lent’s mid-week study (“The Generational Imperative”) and the Small Group Offerings enriched our lives! Evaluations – both formal and informal – and reflections observed in our shared common life clearly point to the powerful impact of both initiatives. Comments noted new appreciation for understanding of generational differences, gifts, and perspectives, as well as the significance (and real, down-to-earth benefits) that living a guide/rule of life holds. Our most recent vestry meeting broke out in good-spirited laughter as one of the Wednesday study participants noted three of our number racing one another’s smart phones/tablets to seek info bytes that could inform our work. A small group facilitator noted others’ observation of a calming in his reaction/response to others and a new passion to listen. Be sure to “ask around” about both of these powerful offerings – and don’t miss the coming adventures noted below! Marriage and the Church: Who, When, Why and How? The earliest centuries of Christianity pro-duced many writings that had the look and feel of scripture, but contained conflicting content. Choices had to be made as to which books were authentic to the original message of Jesus. Committees were formed, meetings held and deci-sions were made. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John made the cut. These four Gospels became the authoritative records of the message of Jesus.

“This image is from the Book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript Gospel book in Latin, containing the four Gospels of the New Testament together with various prefatory texts and tables. It was created in a Columban monastery in Ireland or may have had contributions from various Columban institutions from both Britain and Ireland. It is believed to have been created c. 800. The text of the Gospels is largely drawn from the Vulgate, although it also includes several passages drawn from the earlier versions of the Bible known as the Vetus Latina. It is a masterwork of Western calligraphy and represents the pinnacle of Insular illumination. It is also widely regarded as Ireland's finest national treasure.” https://www.wikiwand.com/en/

In April, Sunday School students through the 8th grade will be studying two stories in which Jesus appears after his Resurrection; the story of Peter, and the story of Stephen,
the first Christian martyr. On either May 1 or 15 (weather and temperature dependent), students will be planting flowers in the Memorial Garden during Sunday School time. Watch “This Week at St. Tim’s” for further information so students can dress appropriately.
Save the date for the annual Sunday School Picnic which will take place at Three Meadows Park on Sunday May 22. The 10:00 AM service will take place at the park, followed by the picnic.
Thank you to everyone who donated plastic eggs for the Easter egg hunt. The students enjoyed the hunt and the contents of the eggs.
Thank you to Rebecca Sidders, who is now one of the teachers in the pre-K through 4th grade class. We could still use some helpers in that class. Please let Susan Winters know if you can help at 419-806-4903 or [email protected]

The [Holy] Week that Was
Thanks to the myriad of folks who made Holy Week 2016 a powerful journey for our parish and community. Musicians, lectors, flower guild, altar guild, acolytes, LEMs, ushers, cooks, egg-hiders and more all worked together to create an experience that was worth every bit of effort – even while combating the March spring break and “catch the sun” holes among our usual company of friends. Let the pictures tell the story!

Spring is in the air so don't forget to bring us all your donations from those newly cleaned closets and drawers! Better weather means more shoppers as well. We are in particular need of volunteers to help on Friday mornings 9 - 11:30 AM to be present in the shop itself, and in the coffee/fellowship area or sorting. Please see Hope Jarvis or email her at [email protected] if you are interested in this ministry.
Advocates for Basic Legal Equality offer a service called the Mobile Benefits Bank.
http://www.lawolaw.org/able-services/mobile-benefit-bank. Staff members will be present at the
Clothesline on Friday April 22, 9:30 - 11:30 AM, and also via the internet by accessing the Ohio
Benefits Bank's program that assists seniors, the disabled, and families with children who are not
utilizing the public benefits for which they may be eligible.
Calling all cookie bakers (even if your 'oven' is the cookie aisle at Kroger.) St. Timothy's is up on the roster to
supply cookies for the Perrysburg Christians United blood drive on Friday May 13. As the date gets closer
there will be a sign up sheet, but you might want to put a reminder note in your day planner. See Bonnie
Martin for details.
There are thirteen parishes in the West Mission Area family of the diocese, and while many are without clergy, we
all gather, small and large, each Sunday for worship and fellowship. This is an invitation to explore the "family
tree" by visiting a West Mission Area parish on their designated tour Sunday over the next year. No special
programming will be planned or required; it's just a laid back opportunity to get to know each other and maybe
even share ideas. Look for a sign-up sheet on the Outreach board in case you want to carpool. First up is All
Saints, Toledo on Sunday May 1, 10:00 AM

Before You Head to the Garden Center During the month of April we will be taking orders for flats,
hanging baskets, and patio pots, locally grown by Lakewood
Greenhouse. Delivery date is Saturday May 7, 10:00 - 3:00 PM
at St. Timothy's Church. All proceeds will benefit electric and
sewer infrastructure for the residents of Barnes Mountain KY.
Order forms are available at church, and on our website. Orders
and payment must be received by May 1.
Our newly imagined Spring Tea for Seniors will be held on Sunday April 17, 2:00 - 4:00 PM. Look for sign-up sheets for servers, sandwiches and cookies. This is a beloved event for our senior community and always lots of fun. There will be lots of musical entertainment as well as a Clothesline fashion show. See Ginger Brown.
Spring Tea
Please keep our adult mission team in
your prayers as they head to Barnes
Mountain, KY April 3 - 9, to listen,
learn, and share stories while quilting
with the women of that community.
Once back home, all this will be
compiled into some form of living
history presentation, in order to further
building and strengthening the
relationship between the Diocese of
Ohio and the Diocese of Lexington.
Missioners include; Father Jeff, Ginger
Brown, Allison Fisher, Hope Jarvis, Joan
VanGunten (from St. Tim's), Barbara

A big shout-out and thank you to everyone who baked (or bought) desserts,
volunteered at the fish fry Fridays, or stopped by for dinner. This fundraiser is a
monumental annual task for a small group of hugely dedicated parishioners, and
the extra hands were much appreciated. The best part?.... lots of new friends :)
