Hosted and fully supported by the Malaysian Government, DSA concluded on a high successful note with the majority of its 830 participating companies from 42 nations being satisfied with the results of their participation at DSA 2010.
Besides the visits of the VVIP delegations, some 22,740 trade visitors from 58 nations visited the four day exhibition sealing it as a huge successful event.
It is with this major success that DSA 2012 - The 13th Defence Services Asia Exhibition & Conference has launched it’s marketing campaign with 30 % of exhibitors renewing their contracts to participate in the 2012 event.
DSA 2012 to be held from 16 to 19 April 2012 at the Putra Word Trade Centre promises to be an equal success to its predecessor whereby, the delivering of top brass VVIP delegations to its participants will be its key focus.
MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT TO HOST AND FULLY SUPPORT DSA 2012 YB DATO’ SERI DR AHMAD ZAHID BIN HAMIDIMINISTER OF DEFENCE, MALAYSIA
Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference (DSA) 2012 will be held at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur from April 16 to 19, 2012 and the Ministry of Defence Malaysia (MINDEF) is pleased to once again lend its support to this mega event which will be the 13th in the series.
Over the years, the DSA series has built up a firm reputation as THE premier defence show in Asia if not the world, putting Malaysia firmly on the radar within the defence and security exhibition arena.
I am confident that DSA 2012 will continue playing a pivotal role in bringing together the key players in the defence industry and government agencies for strategic alliances, business collaborations and successful networking. The multi-million ringgit defence industry is highly capital and technology-intensive and offers bright prospects for economic growth in Malaysia. As such, it augurs well for the growth of our local defence industries.
This biennial event has consistently and continuously showcased the latest in defence equipment and technology, weaponry, and groundbreaking advancements in security and safety. Thus it is an ideal avenue where armed forces and security personnel from the region and Malaysia can keep abreast of industry advancements through a ‘hands-on” approach to the products and technology.
I wish the organiser every success for DSA 2012 and anticipate the forging of many strategic partnerships, the enhancement of existing alliances and networking opportunities between participating members of the event.

MESSAGE FROM DR. HJ. ISMAIL BIN HJ. AHMADSECRETARY GENERAL, MALAYSIAN MINISTRY OF DEFENCE AND CHAIRMAN OF DSA 2012 ORGANISING COMMITTEE
The Malaysian Government and the Ministry of Defence are once again honored to host the 13th edition of the Defence Services Asia (DSA) exhibition and conference from April 16-19, 2012 where we anticipate extending a warm welcome to an estimated 27, 000 distinguished guests, exhibitors and visitors.
Over the years, the DSA series has achieved a reputation that has elevated its standing in the international exhibition calendar and is a much-awaited defence and security trade exhibition, as can be seen in the increasing number of exhibitors and participation from across the globe.
As with the previous shows, an impressive array of the world’s most sophisticated military hardware and software technology as well as technology for homeland and security services will be showcased at DSA 2012. It will also provide the platform to create and bolster favorable linkages among established key players in forging strategic alliances locally, regionally and globally. DSA 2012 will also provide invaluable opportunities for the forging of partnerships for industry outsourcing as well as joint collaborations in various manufacturing, procurement and offset programs.
My congratulations to the event organiser, DSA Exhibition and Conference Sdn Bhd, for their professionalism, enthusiasm and energy in driving the DSA series and I look forward to welcoming all exhibitors
and visitors to DSA 2012.

FULL SUPPORT FROM YDH TAN SRI MUSA BIN TAN SRI HJ. HASSANINSPECTOR-GENERAL OF POLICE, ROYAL MALAYSIA POLICE
Law enforcement is essential in guaranteeing order and peace within a society, which in turn would create a favorable environment that would enable a country to compete effectively in the global arena.
As society and civilisation progresses, innovations and improvements are constantly updated, thanks to the technology and resources available. The task of protecting the public from potential threats, aggressors and dangers is made easier, more efficient and competent with superior and highly developed armaments and security devices.
Yet as justice and order become more advanced and sophisticated, criminal activities and their malicious methods are also fueled by the latest technology in becoming elusive, undetectable and untraceable. By becoming more advanced than criminals in terms of knowledge and information, law enforcers can outwit and outsmart criminal attempts as complex or planned they may be.
Thus I personally feel that DSA 2012, in particular the Police and National Security Section, is highly relevant and pertinent in equipping the international Police Force with useful information, knowledge and technology in thwarting criminal efforts and preventing crimes.
The Royal Malaysia Police welcomes the international Police Force entries who will be represented at DSA 2012 and extends well wishes to all exhibitors
and visitors.
ROYAL MALAYSIA POLICE
The integration of the Police and National Security show within the existing DSA profile is unique, effective and highly successful.
A hall dedicated purely to the display and promotion of police and national securityequipment, products, technology and peripherals was successfully launched at DSA 2010. Full support was also received from the Royal Malaysia Police and saw the show being visited by all the relevant officials.
The Malaysian Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein and the Malaysian Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Musa bin Tan Sri Hj. Hassan visited the show and spent quality time viewing some of the newly develop and highly sophisticated security peripherals.
Other Malaysian top guns who also visited this specialised show included the Director General of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Admiral Dato’ Mohd Amdan Kurish as well as Lt. General Dato’ Paduka Abdul Hadi Hj Hussin, the Director General of Intelligence for the Malaysian Armed Forces.
Security focussed VVIP delegations flown in by DSA specifically for the Security show at DSA 2010 comprised; 14 Police Chiefs and Representatives from Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Jordan, Laos, Myanmar, Korea, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, Turkey and Vietnam.
7 Customs Chiefs from China, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
4 Immigrations Chiefs from India, Laos, Singapore and Vietnam.
9 Intelligence Director Generals from Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Ukraine.
For DSA 2012, the Police and National Security hall is expected to be doubled as more and more companies specialising in this sector recognise the importance and effectiveness of being part of this unique event. Some of the companies who are expected to return to DSA 2012 include Dreiha, Glock, Imperial Armour, SureFire, Taser and US Ordnance.
A successful live demonstration programme was also held in conjunction with the show whereby participants included the UK, the French and the Australian governments. The theme for the live demonstration programme for DSA 2012 will be developed based on current situational needs.

It gives me great pleasure to note that the Defence Services Asia (DSA) series has been an increasingly renowned avenue for a prestigious international gathering of various Armed Forces officials, vendors and clients amidst the finery of a showcase featuring the latest in military trades, expertise and technology. From my perspective, this spectacular event has steadily been providing an optimal environment for the exchange of ideas and solutions amongst senior government officials, subject matter experts and defence industry key figures, whilst ultimately serving as a substantial platform in creating and strengthening beneficial professional ties.
Meanwhile, a host of non-traditional threats, especially terrorist activism reported worldwide, continues to haunt corridors of power and state actors alike. Other growing concerns include multinational collaborations in response to humanitarian aid and disaster relief, and sea robbery. All these pressing issues demand us to integrate, innovate and prioritise our security initiatives, which definitely require a lot of fine tuning. It is therefore my earnest wish that DSA 2012 will be able to complement pertinent endeavours by promoting the universal values of security and peaceful co-existence in which all like-minded nations believe.
In essence, I have every confidence that DSA 2012 will yet again meet the standards and expectations of a world-class event. In the light of this, the Malaysian Armed Forces is greatly honoured
to be associated with this momentous arrangement, as well as to be afforded the opportunity to rejuvenate relations and cement collaborations with friends from across the globe.
We look forward to seeing you at this opportune moment.
