SOME SOCIAL MEDIA
MISTAKES YOU SHOULD
STOP DOING RIGHT
AWAY
By: Nitin Khanna
There are a lot of pluses of a having social
presence of your business. You have better
chances of connecting and building a relationship
with your customers, prospects and those that
want to get the latest news from you. So, the perks
are many, but few downsides are also associated.
In this case, there are some risks that you should
be aware of when using social media for your
brand.
There is no other social environment or marketing
area that causes anxiety more than social media.
On both personal and professional levels, social
media is associated with the compare-and-despair
effect, fear of failure, fear of missing out and more.
Let’s learn a few social media things, that you
should stop doing right now!
1. LOW OR NO ENGAGEMENT WITH YOUR FOLLOWERS
A large number of company’s social media accounts ignore
their followers. They post the content while ignoring those
that shows engagement. This means that when someone
comments on company’s social posts or even tweets them,
the company won’t answer and overlook it as if they had
not seen it. This portrays to their audience that the brand
doesn’t show interest in engaging with its audience.
Engage with your followers even more successfully, as it
doesn’t take much to reply and you may receive more
engagement and see your follower base, because it shows
your care about your audience.
2. FOCUSING SOLELY ON SALES
The followers do not like to be sold to every single
post you publish. But if you want them to be, then you
must do something amazing. The bigger names out
there aren’t selling in every social post they publish.
They follow the 80/20 rule. 80 times they provide
useful tips, guidance, engage with their customers
and then, of course, 20 times the sales posts every
now and then.
3. STOP POSTING
Start conversations instead.
Do not focus on the methods of keeping your social
streams fresh. In its place, start concentrating on
what you are saying and how to actually get in front of
the right audience. Your brand should spend 80% of
efforts in conversing with key individuals online
instead of posting.
4. IGNORING NEGATIVE FEEDBACKS
Simply stop ignoring negative feedback if you want to
see success on your social media profiles. Ignoring
negative feedback could lead your company going
viral for the wrong reasons. Eliminating customers
misunderstanding can help your brand maintain a
good reputation.
5. STOP TRYING TO BE EVERYTHING TO EVERYONE
If you do not get time to manage Facebook, Twitter,
Pinterest, Instagram and Google plus, then don’t stress.
Rather select one or two networks you like and hire the
resources to manage it well. Pay emphasis on the quality
rather than quantity, as it can better pay you back.
CONCLUSION
So, it is important that you rightly utilize the social
media platforms for your business, as this can bring a
huge benefit for your brand. Just stay aware to avoid
the mistakes and adopt healthy practices.
