In2012,SolutionsInc.designedfabricatedandinstalledanewSteamandWaterSample(SWAS)SystemataCombinedCycleplantlocatedintheSouthwesternUSwithageneratingcapacityofapproximately490MW.Theplantconfigurationistwo‘blocks’oftwogasturbines/twoHeatRecoverySteamGenerators(HRSG’s)/onesteamturbinecombination(a“2-on-1”configuration).

TheoriginalSWAShadseveraldeficiencies:

1. The design did not meet the standards of ASTM D5540 governingsampleconditioningandflowcontrol;

2. Substandard components including back pressure valves androtameterswerecausinguncontrolledvariationsinsampleflow;

3. Solid particles, particularly magnetite in the sample streams weredepositinginsamplelinesandvalvesresultinginlossofsampleflow;

4. Aglycolrecoverytankwasmissing.SolutionsInc.designedanewSWASwhichsolvedthesedeficiencies.
