Hello!

X and Y Chromosomes and John Bracks painting of ‘The Bar’ are determining factors in design for Dimmeys redevelopment.

This was stated by John Armsby architect for developer Richmond Icon (The Age 11/1) addressing the eight and eleven storey towers he said “The design reflects Dimmeys textile origins, with a lacework concrete design for one, and pinstripe proposed for the other.

Determining the colour of the Clock Tower he said, “the tower is on the left and in the John Brack painting of The Bar, the barmaid is on the left – and she’s yellow”.

I reckon there should be a spin-merchant play-off every year with a substitute prize, maybe a George and Tony statuette.

Calling in artwork to elaborate a point of view, is a masterstroke, and should be encouraged.

Objectors could table Guernica Picasso’s painting of the destruction of the Spanish town, by German dive-bombers during the civil war.

Every picture, every painting tells a story and the Richmond Icon artist’s impression of the towers, submitted with the application brings Hong Kong to Richmond.

Eight and Eleven storeys on Dimmeys – that will make the Mona Lisa Smile.
