———CALENDAR OF THE WEEK——— !! Dear Parishioners and Visitors,
!
Happy Independence Day Week! It’s a little
odd with the holiday falling on a Wednesday, so I
closed the rectory offices down on the Thursday and
Friday to give the staff a nice long holiday.
I want to share with you some very good news.
Two of our parishioners have been accepted by the
Diocese of Syracuse in the Formation for Deaconate
program. Before I tell you who they are, you need to
understand just how arduous a process it is just to be
accepted. First, one needs to complete the two-year
long Formation for Ministry Program. Then, in the
application process itself, in addition to needed paper-
work and letter of recommendation, there are personal
interviews, family interviews, and psychological as-
sessments. Then, there is a 28 week long Pastoral
Care Education piece that is very intense and time-
consuming. So, to have been accepted is at once the
end of one long process, and the beginning of another.
I wish to congratulate Mr. Michael Carroll, Sr.
and Mr. Paul Heiland to their acceptance into the Di-
aconate Formation Program for the Diocese of Syra-
cuse. That means that, beginning in the fall, they will
be attending classes one weekend per month for the
next four years. If all goes as planned, they should be
ordained in May of 2022. So, they (and their wives)
need our prayers. Michael and Paul: Congratulations
for having made it this far, and know that our prayers
are with you. God bless,
Fr. Michael

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE from
the Office of Family Life Education (A
Hope Appeal Agency)
The healing of the woman and the child in
today’s gospel is a reminder we are all wounded. We re-
treat to those we love looking for acceptance, listening, un-
derstanding and support. Families must be healing commu-
nities where Jesus is present in our care for one another.
