PATIENT SAFETY

e guidelines stress the importance and describe how to integrate patient safety in quality improvement and in all kinds of health care education.

ey describe experiences and the state of the art in patient safety and resilient care, making proposals to learning outcomes and provide advice for implementation.

ey also include cases and “storytelling” from patients, carers and signicant others.

e project has inspired further inter-professional collaboration nationwide to stress and describe remaining core competencies starting with person-centred care and evidenced-based care.

e guidelines are co-written by a nurse and a medical doctor. Interventions are based on consensus discussions from an inter-professional workshop.

– A Core Competency for all professionals

In order to provide a better and safer health care patient safety is a core competence that´s necessary for tomorrow´s health care professionals.

Patient safety is one of the six key core competencies: person-centred care, teamwork, evidence-based care, quality improvement, patientsafety and infor-matics. ey are all interrelated.

ere is a strong recommendation that all education in health care should include the six core competencies pointed out by e Institute of Medicine of the National Academiesand the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses. For information please contact: [email protected]
