Mobile phones A reminder that the school has
a clear policy that mobile
phones or other electronic
equipment are not to be
brought onto the school
premises without a signed
agreement supporting this
from the child’s parent or
carer.
Students who do need to
bring such equipment, are
required to bring with them
the signed agreement form
that is then kept on file. They
then need to register their
device in the office for
storage, when they arrive at
school and then collect it from
the office, as they are leaving
for home.
Any students who require an
agreement form for their
device, can pick one up at
the office.
Thank you for supporting this
process for all of our students.

Intention to apply for Year 5 entry to an
Opportunity class in 2021 Opportunity classes can provide intellectual stimulation by
grouping together high potential and gifted students who may
otherwise be isolated from a suitable peer group. Successful
students will usually have to leave their current school to enrol in
a school with an opportunity class for Years 5 and 6.
A Year 5 virtual opportunity class has been established at
Aurora College for students in rural and remote NSW. Further
information is available at http://www.aurora.nsw.edu.au/
Testing and assessment
Applications for opportunity class placement are considered on
the results of the Opportunity Class Placement Test. Students
who wish to be considered for opportunity class placement will
sit the Opportunity Class Placement Test on Wednesday 16
September 2020.
How to apply
If you would like to have your child considered for Year 5
opportunity class entry in 2021, you need to apply between
Tuesday 9 June 2020 and Friday 26 June 2020. You will need to
access the online application at https://education.nsw.gov.au/
public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/
year-5.
If you intend to apply and/or need further information, please
contact me.
Thank you

Stage 2 Students from 3/4C, 3/4S & 3/4T! WOW! Stage 2 (3/4C,3/4S,3/4T) will be learning to play the
recorder in Music. For the remainder of this year. It is an
invaluable way to learn the fundamentals of music and music
notation. Each child will need their own recorder to enable us to
do this. They can be purchased quite cheaply in retail shops or
online – average cost is $7.00 - $10.00
Alternatively, we have a few (about 45) second hand recorders
that have been sanitised available for $2.00 each. Should you
wish to purchase one of ours, students need to give $2.00 to Mrs
McGlinn to receive their recorder – it will be first in first served! The
sooner this happens for all, the sooner we can start! Please
ensure names are on all instruments.
Thank you
Donna McGlinn
Chappy Chapter We’re all back and working towards normality. That means my
chappy programs are also back in operation, even though my
maths groups have been going most of this term.
Room update: It’s pretty good, if I do say so myself! The air-
conditioner has been installed, the projector has been mounted
on the ceiling and has power, I have a computer stand with
wiring that connects to the projector, and a light that stays on for
more than 4 mins!!!. Thanks to Michael Chaplin and Anthony
Gresham for doing the electrical work and installing the air-
conditioner.
The Maths Kids are really enjoy this space and other teachers are
starting to use it as well!
Canteen Kitchen Rules: It’s back! Staring this week we finish our 5
week cycle with the lads before starting a new group next week.
The cooking is still the number one hit program.
New Lunch Time Groups: Starting Monday 15 June, 2020 I’m
going to start running lunch time groups or interactive workshops
in the new room. The first workshop starting Monday lunch time is
Card Making. I will have all the gear, plus my faithful assistant
Jarah who makes better cards than me, to run these workshops
and give the kids some new skills. In the future we might do
some art classes, using tools, and whatever else we can
think of or what students may request.
Card Group is another new initiative starting Tuesday lunch
times. From UNO, to Rummy and 500 for those who want to
be stretched. It’s amazing how playing good card games
can sharpen the brain! There’s a few board games there
too for students.
Until we’re back with the next instalment of the “Chappy
Chapter”!

LUNCH TIME MADE EASY Danelle and her awesome volunteers have given our canteen
a top to bottom santise, restocked the fridges and installed our
fabulous new oven ready to return to serving up recess and
lunch to our hungry hordes.
The canteen is now open every day except Tuesdays and don’t
forget we offer Sushi every Monday as well!
SAVE YOUR SILVER! Our 5c challenge is back on again. You get a chance to get rid
of all those pesky five cent pieces hiding out in the back of your
lounge or weighing down your wallet and we put it into projects
to benefit our kids! Collection buckets are going into the
classrooms this week.
We’ll keep collecting your coins until the second week back
next term. The class that raises the most money will win a class
pizza party, second prize is a class cupcake party and third
place will win a class ice block party.
NEED NEW SHOES? Thank you to everyone who has mentioned Bilambil Public
School when shopping at The Athletes Foot – they’ve just
donated $115.00 to our school in appreciation of our support.
Thank you Athletes Foot.
Don’t forget to mention us next time you shop at The Athletes
Foot.
UNIFORMS Winter jumpers are in stock at the uniform shop! Our uniform
shop isn’t able to open up just yet but orders can be made
online at www.bilambilpc.org or by appointment with our
uniform shop co-ordinator Tamara by texting 0431 141 715.
P&C MEETING Our next P&C meeting will be held at 3.15pm on Monday June
15. If you’d like to join us please email the P&C secretary
Belinda at [email protected] or text
0404 013 085.
We meet in the school staff room which is nice and big but
knowing how many people we have coming ensures we can
meet the required social distancing guidelines. If you’ve got a
little more time now you’re working from home or don’t have
the after-school activities to rush to, we’d love to see some new
faces.
All welcome.
