Turn off the water supply. Flush the toilet, and use a spongeto remove the remaining water from the tank and bowl.Disconnect the supply shut-off valve (if present), and removethe old tank and bowl.

TO INSTALL NEW BOWL
Set the bowl upside down on somepadding. Firmly press the toilet gasketonto the outlet.
Wax ring type toilet gasketshould not be installed at temperaturesless than 21 .
If you are using a toiletgasket with an integral plastic sleeve,make sure the gasket is positionedwith the sleeve facing away from thetoilet.
If you temporarily plugged the closetflange with a rag, remove the rag atthis time and ensure that the drain pipeis clear and free of debris.
Carefully align and lower the overthe closet flange and T-bolts. Apply fullbody weight to the rim to set theseal.
Do not lift or rock theafter placement - a new
toilet gasket must be installed ifyou break the watertight seal.

Install two new 8mm (5/16") diameterT-bolts into the closet flange.
Do not use white cement orhigh lime content cements to installthis toilet. The expansion of cementdue to a rise in temperature may makethe toilet crack or cause damage.Kohler is not responsible for anydamage caused by installation with theuse of cement.

Remove the old gasket from the floor
and the closet flange with a putty knife.
Remove the old T-bolts and discard
them.
If the new toilet is not
installed immediately, temporarily stuff
a rag into the closet flange.
NOTICE:
TO INSTALL SUPPLYSHUT-OFF VALVE
Install the supply shut-off valve so it is203mm (8 ) above the finished floorline. The supply shut-off valve must be127mm to the left of the closetflange centerline.
The supply shut-off valve outlet shouldextend 83mm (3-1/4 ) from the finishedwall.

Assemble the bolt cap bases, washer,and nuts on the exposed T-bolts.Handtighten the nuts, then tightenthem an additional 1/2-turn.
Overtightening may causebreakage or chipping of thevitreous china.
If the T-bolts extend more than 6mm(1/4") over the top of the nuts, cut offthe excess and file the end. Wipeaway any residue. Install the bolt cap.

TO INSTALL NEW TANK
Make sure the three tank bolts extend
completely through the holes in the
gasket. Set the tank onto the bowl,
using the tank bolts as a guide. Center
the gasket on the inlet of the bowl.
Assemble the washer and brass nuts
onto the bolts.
Alternately tighten the three brass nuts
so the top of the tank and the top of
the bowl are both level. Be sure the
brass nuts are tight enough to achieve
a wate tight seal.
Over tightening may cause
breakage or chipping of the
vitreous china.

TO CONNECT WATERSUPPLY
* Flexible hose (not provided) arerecommended to connect the supplyline to the fill valve. If you use a rigidconnection(not provided), take carenot to apply side forces to the bottomof the fill valve. Be sure the rigidconnection must be fit with supply linecompletely to prevent damage shankby forced connection.

Make certain the top is
turned to the locked position. Valve
may not turn on if top is not fully in
the locked position.
Before turning on the
supply valve for the first time, follow
the steps below to clear sand, debris
and rust from the system:
Make sure water supply
is off. Remove valve TOP by lifting arm
and rotating top 1/8 turn
counterclockwise.
While holding a
container over the uncapped VALVE to
prevent splashing, turn water supply
on and off a few times. Leave water
supply off.
Replace TOP by
engaging lugs and rotating 1/8 turn
clockwise.
Turn on water supply. Check that water
level is at the marked water line.
Open the supply shut-off valve andcheck all connections for leakage. Ifthe connections have been properlyassembled, a slight retightening of thenuts should stop any leakage.
If the toilet is leaking between the tankand the bowl, carefully retighten thethree brass nuts evenly. Periodicallycheck all the bowl and tankconnections for leakage for severaldays following installation.
Install the toilet seat according to theseat manufcture's installationinstructions.

FILL FLOAT WITHBALLAST
Hold the float underwater for a fewseconds to fill it with water ballast.Adjust the float by sliding it up or downon the float rod until the water level isat the marked water line.
Test flush the toilet.
Periodically check all connections forleaks for several days followinginstallation.
Set the tank cover in place on the tank.

7. Toilet does not activate. A. Chain is not connected to lift rod orflush valve.
A. Reconnect the chain.
1. Float valve turns on/off by itselfwithout toilet being flushed.
A. No slack in flapper chain assembly,holding flapper off seat.
B. Flush valve flapper ball worn, dirtyor misaligned with flush valve seat;or seat corroded so flapper will notseal.
C. Refill tube pushed too far down inoverflow pipe.
A. Adjust flapper chain assembly forproper slack.
B. Inspect, clean and, if necessary,replace flapper ball and/or seat.
C. Attach refill to overflow pipeabove the water line.

A. Foreign particles lodged under thefloat valve seal (located under floatvalve cap)

A. Shut off water supply; remove floatvalve cap assembly by rotating 1/8turn counterclockwise. Coveruncapped lower valve unit with aninverted cup (holding it to prevernoverspray), and turn water on and offa few times. Clean float valve sealsurface (located under float valve cap).Replace float valve cap assembly byengaging lugs and rotating 1/8 turnclockwise. Turn water on.Install filler in supply line to preventrecurring problems.

CONSUMER RESPONSIBILITIES
If you live in a hard water area, make certain that the holes inthe toilet rim are kept clean to ensure proper bowl flushing.Toilet bowl cleaners should be used at least once a week.Use a long-handled brush to clean the rim holes, and to cleanas far into the trap as possible to prevent mineral depositsfrom forming.
Most toilet bowl cleaners are not harmful to the vitreous chinasurface of the toilet bowl. Please follow the bowl cleanermanufacturer's instructions carefully.
Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
Do not use in-tank cleaners. Products containingchlorine (calcium hypochlorite) can seriously damagefittings in the tank. This damage can cause leakageand property damage.
Kohler Company shall not be responsible or liable for anydamage to these tank fittings caused by the use of cleanerscontaining chlorine (calcium hypochlorite).
