Some people look at tomorrow as a
day just waiting to happen. For others,
it’s different. They see their tomorrow
as an open door—something to be built
with their hands and mind and heart,
from the ground up.
It’s where learning finds life, and
where passion finds a path ahead to
something bigger and brighter. This is
what tomorrow looks like to us.
It’s time to learn.
It’s time to do.
Because your time, and your tomorrow, start now.
Learn. Do. Now.

“I chose Western Dakota Tech for the quick hands-on learning that helped me get a job in the career I love.”
Joann Williamson ’14 Accounting
At Western Dakota Tech, we believe in
the power of potential. Your potential.
As a student here, you’ll engage in
an active learning experience that’s
designed to bring knowledge to life
and prepare you to succeed on day
one of your new career.
Put Knowledge to Work
Students in the computer science
program plan, design, build, and
manage real production networks.
Law enforcement technology students
actively practice investigation
techniques, firearms training, and
patrol procedures. Healthcare students
get extensive training with patient
simulators. This is how it is in all of our
programs. We believe in action. So do
our students.
Train with the Most Modern Technology
From the first moment you step on our
campus, you’ll see that when it comes
to providing the best possible facilities
and technology, we mean business.
Since summer of 2015 alone, we’ve
undertaken nearly a half dozen major
new construction and renovation
projects for programs ranging from
transportation technology to practical
nursing to pharmacy technician to HVAC.
Expand Your Network
As western South Dakota’s only
technical college, we proudly partner
with many leading companies,
businesses, and organizations in Rapid
City and throughout the region. That
means you’ll have access to valuable
internship opportunities to gain real-
world experience, as well as a powerful
network of potential employers for after
you graduate.

The academic experience at Western
Dakota Tech is rigorous, and we expect
a lot from our students. So it only makes
sense we do everything we can to give
you the resources it takes to make the
most of your experience. We know you
have potential, and we’re committed
to empowering you to realize that
potential by providing the best possible
facilities and technology.
Powerful Equipment and Tools
Here, you’ll find the same equipment
and tools you’ll use in the professional
world. Students in our computer-aided
drafting program use GPS and GIS
technology. We provide state-of-the-art
machining labs. And students in our
transportation technology program get
experience working on hybrid vehicles.
Cutting-Edge Facilities
Our 31,000-square-foot Transportation
Technology Lab offers every resource
students in that program need to
sharpen their skills. The Medical
Simulation Lab features high-fidelity,
responsive patient simulators to give
students the most realistic training
experiences. Our new 15,000-square-
foot Public Safety Building provides an
ideal setting for law enforcement and
fire science students to learn and work
under one roof.
Programs in High-Growth Fields
The programs we offer represent some
of the fastest growing professional fields
and industries. That’s why we offer them.
When you complete your education and
training here, you’ll be prepared for a
career in a high-growth field.
You’ll find our students consistently succeeding at the South Dakota
Skills USA competition, where they go head-to-head with other
students from around the state.
Our campus features a $500,000 fire training building where students
get the real-world training that employers are looking for.

“Getting the chance to work with the actual equipment I’d be using in the future was a much better way to learn than reading about it in a book.”

The community at Western Dakota Tech is
characterized by a closeness that’s hard to
describe. It’s something you have to feel. We
support each other, challenge each other,
work alongside each other, and find new
ways to have fun every day. Here, you’ll be
valued—for your potential and for what you
bring to our community and campus culture.
Faculty Interaction
We intentionally keep our classes small
so students get as much individualized
attention from faculty as they need. Many
schools out there can’t say that. The
success of our students is our top priority,
so ensuring you have all the academic and
personal support you need by keeping
classes small is worth it.

Now... Because It’s Your Time
We recently expanded and renovated our
Commons area and kitchen, making an
already comfortable, student-oriented space
for relaxing and getting together with friends
even better.
Our new 450-seat event center offers more
than 13,000 square feet of space for large
gatherings, events, conferences, regional
training opportunities, and community
events.
Student Clubs
One of the best ways to take
advantage of everything we have to
offer is by joining student clubs. You’ll
sharpen leadership and teamwork
skills, discover new interests, and
make friendships that may last the rest
of your life.

“No matter what we’d be talking about in class, the instructors can relate it to something they did because they’ve done these things in their careers.”
Sarah Davis ’13 Environmental Engineering
Success means something different to
everyone. For us, it means watching our
students grow, develop their skills, and
prepare to enter the professional world
as smart, skilled individuals who bring
a positive outlook to their work. And it’s
something we get to see every day.
Career Services
From hosting on-site career fairs, to
assistance with your resume, to helping with
your job interview skills, to job postings and
