HOW TO USE TRELLO FOR EDUCATORS
Visit www.trello.com to get started!
You need to sign up
first. A great benefit is
that it is free to use.
After your first log-in this main
page will appear. There are
many options to choose from on
the blue menu bar. Starting
from the right are notifications,
information, account info
creating a new board and a
search bar.
Trello uses what it calls boards to
keep different projects organized. As
a list of tasks that need to be
completed for a specific project. To
create a new board, click on create
new board.
After clicking on create board this comes up.
Trello boards can be used for many purposes
from organizing project tasks, resources, or
even a to do list. As an example, I am going to
create a list of tech tools. To start your board,
name it in the title section and click on create.
After you create a board your screen
will look like this after you click on it
from your boards menu.
On your board, you can create lists of
resources or tasks that need to be
completed. To start your list, go
ahead and type in the name of your
list and hit save.
As an example, I created two lists
labeled iTunes Apps and Technology
tools to research.
Both of these lists are great examples
of ways you can use lists on a Trello
board. Tech Tools to Research is a
task list, while iTunes Apps is a list of
tools that can be used.
To add items to your list you must
add a card. To do that just click on
add card. As an example, under
iTunes Apps there are a few cards
added.
After clicking on add card a text
window will open up like so. You can
use multiple lists on one board and
add as many cars as needed on the
list.
After creating a board on Trello you
can edit, share and track changes
made to your board.
You are able to move lists and cards
from their spot to new places by
clicking on the and dragging and
dropping it in to place.
In the menu that you can access by
clicking on your name there is an
option to add members to your
board. This allows them to edit and
make changes to the board. To do so
you click in the menu button that
says add members.
Trello also track changes made to the
board at the bottom of the menu
noting who makes the change.
This is just one of the many ways that educators can
use Trello as an organizational tool. It is a great
resource for teachers to keep track of things, as well
as a collaboration tool to use with fellow educators.
After clicking on add members you
are able to grant access to other for
editing or viewing using their name,
email or giving them a special code.
