    HIDDEN MYSTERIES 1

THEME: Blessed are the poor in spirit;Source: The Gospel according to Spiritism. , VII: 7-10 2- Matthew, XI: 25.

CHAPTER 7MYSTERIES ARE HIDDEN FROM THE LEARNED AND

PRUDENT7. At that time Jesus answered and said: I thank thee, O Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth, because thou

hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes (Matthew, 11: 25).

    8. It may appear quite singular that Jesus gives thanks to God for having revealed these things to thesimple and humble, who are the poor in spirit, and for having hidden them from the learned and prudent; whoapparently are more able to understand. But we must recognize that the former are those who are submissive, who humble themselves before God and do not consider themselves superior. The latter are those who arearrogant, full of pride for their worldly knowledge, judging themselves prudent because they deny God or who, when they are not refusing to accept Him, treat Him as an equal despite the fact that in ancient times learnedwas

a synonym forwise. This is why God has left them to discover the secrets of the Earth and revealed the secrets ofHeaven only to the humble, who prostrate themselves before Him.

    9. The same thing has happened today with the great truths revealed by Spiritism. Many of those who areincredulous are surprised by the fact that the Spirits take so little trouble to convince them. The reason for thisbeing that it is preferable to look after those who seek with good faith and humility, rather than offer enlightenmentto those who suppose they already possess it; who perhaps imagine that God should be very thankful for havingmanaged to attract their attention by proving His existence to them.

The power of God manifests itself in all things, from the smallest to the greatest. He does not hide Hislight, but rather disperses it in constant waves to every corner of the Universe, to such an extent that only thosewho are blind do not see. God does not wish their eyes to be opened byforce, seeing that they desire to keepthem shut. Their time will come. But first it is necessary that they feel the anguish of darkness and so recognize itis the Divinity and not mere chance whichhurts their pride. In order to overcome this incredulity, God uses the

most convenient means according to each individual. It is not their incredulity that prescribes what is to be done, nor is it up to them to say: "If you want to convince me, then you must do this or that on a certain occasionbecause this is what could persuade me." Therefore those who are unbelievers should not be surprised if neitherGod nor the Spirits who execute His wishes, do not submit to these demands. Instead, they should as themselveswhat they would say if the lowest of their servants tried to impose upon them in whatever form. God imposes theconditions and does not accept those who wish to impose conditions on Him. He listens kindly to those who directthemselves to Him with humility and not to those who judge themselves greater than He.

BLESSED ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT10. It is often asked if God could not touch these people personally by means of clearly evident

manifestations before which even the most obstinate unbeliever would be convinced.Beyond all doubt He could. But in this case what merit would be gained and more importantly, what use

would it be? Do we not see people every day who do not bow down even before such evidence and who say:

"Even if I saw I would not believe because I know it is impossible"? If they deny truth in such a manner it isbecause their spirits have not yet reached sufficient maturity to enable them to understand, nor their hearts to feelit. Pride is the cataract which covers their vision.

What good does it do to show a light to one who is blind? Rather it is first necessary to cure the cause ofthe ill. This is why, as a skilful doctor, He first of all punishes their pride. He will never abandon any of His childrensince sooner or later their eyes will be opened, but He wishes this to happen of their own free-will. Then defeated

by the torments of incredulity, they will throw themselves of their own accord into His arm, begging to be forgivenjust the prodigal son did.

    CONSIDERATIONS:

This study is quite difficult, because it is dealt from occult mysteries to the learnt and prudent, and onewonders what mysteries would those be!

Well then, for the sequence of the following explanations, we conclude that Jesus spoke about himselfand his authority and of his mission being blessed of God, because he reveals that all things were given to him byhis Father, that nobody knows the Father except the son and he offers himself to help us with an invitation:

"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest". And explaining that hisyoke was easy and his burden light. 3

The humble ones and the simple of heart joined themselves to Him, to learn of him and with hisinstruction to exercise their faith, and to receive from Jesus trust in God and in the spiritual things and in Jesus'presence to feel his peace and well to be feeling.

The mysteries ought to have been also the revelations that Jesus revealed in his teachings, because,Jesus says: For I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and havenot seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. 4

In those days the education in general, even superior studies, were done by the Tabernacles andSynagogues, the priests or the priestly hierarchy were the teachers, the retainers of the wisdom and knowledge, and they were proud of that; so much that as soon as when Jesus cured a blind man, the priests investigated himand former-blind man answered them,, I have told you already, and ye did not hear ; wherefore would ye hear itagain? Will ye also be his disciples? Then they reviled him and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Mosesdisciples. (John, IX: 25-41).

Jesus brought the revelation of love, that is to say, the law of love, which frees the people from thesophisticated laws of Moses, whose laws demanded by the priests, were of heavy burden, hard to accomplishand Jesus proposes and he still does propose the light burden which is love, because love accomplishes all thelaws, but as the whole society was involved in the priestly system, few dared to follow Jesus, with his renovatingand liberating ideals, the fear of the priestly persecution or of being expelled off the Synagogues was general; themost ignorant people didn't have access to knowledge which would help to liberate themselves, the Romans alsohad their oppression systems and the people lived with very care, and somebody who might have his faith orspiritual ideal, had to exercise in secret or in the secret that very faith, those were the rules of survival.

Jesus himself was expelled from synagogues,5 misunderstood, disrespect and hated, and which isChrist's true Doctrine?

Let us see Lenis Denis' opinion in the book' Christianityand Spiritism', IV chapter - The Spiritist doctrine, - edition ofFEB. 7th edition, 11/1978. 6

"Which is the Christ's true doctrine?- His essential principles are clearly stated in the Gospel. It is the universal paternity of God and the

fraternity of men with the moral consequences which from them result; it is the immortal life granted to everyoneand that to each one is allowed in ones own effort to accomplish the kingdom of God", that is, perfection, throughthe detachment of ones own material goods, through the pardoning of offenses and the love to ones neighbor.

For Jesus, in only one word, the whole religion, the whole philosophy consists of love:"Love your enemies; do good to those who hate you and pray for those who pursue and slander you; so

that you may be the children of your Father who is in Heaven, who makes his sun to raise on the good and on thebad, and He causes to rain on the fair and on the unjust. For if you love them which love you, what reward haveyou ? Do not even the publicans the same. (Matthew, V: 44...)."

Of that love God himself gives us the example, because His arms are always open for the sinner.

"So, your Father who is in Heaven doesn't want not even one of these little ones to perish. The sermon of the mountain summarizes in indelible lines, Jesus' popular teaching. In him the moral law

is expressed under a form that it was never equaled.Men thereof learn that there are no safer elevation means than the humble and hidden virtues."Blessed are the pure in spirit; (that is, the simple and right spirits), for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted... (Mateus, V: 1-12 - Lucas, VI: 20-25).What Jesus wants it is not a pompous cult, it is not a priestly religion, opulent of ceremonies and practices

which do suffocate the thought, no; it is a simple and pure cult, all of feeling, consisting of a direct relationship, without middleman, of the human conscience with God, who is his Father:

Time has come in which the true worshipers should adore the Father in spirit and truth, for the Fatherseeketh such to worship him,. God is Spirit, and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth...

(...). "The secret doctrine went much further away. Under the veil of parables and of fictions, it hid deepconceptions. In what he refers to that immortality promised to all, he defined its forms affirming the succession ofthe terrestrial existences, in which ones the soul, been reincarnated in new bodies, would suffer theconsequences of their previous lives and would prepare the conditions of his future destiny. He taught the pluralityof the inhabited worlds, the alternations of each being's life: in the terrestrial world, in which he reappears throughbirth, in the spiritual world, to which he returns through death, gathering in one and another from those means thegood fruits or bad of his past. He taught the intimate connection and the solidarity of those two worlds and, consequently, the man's possible communication with the Spirits of the dead who populate the unlimited space."

Thereof the active love, not only for those who suffer in the sphere of the terrestrial existence, but also for

the souls who wander around us tormented by painful memories... ().The law of reincarnation is suitable in many passages of the Gospel and it should be considered under

two different aspects: the turn to the flesh, for the Spirits in improvement stage; the reincarnation of Spirits sent inmission to Earth..."

    * * * * * * * * * *One of the occult mysteries, which wise men did not understand, it was the subject of miracles, and

nowadays it is a subject left apart, especially because it is a controversial subject and it is not help much to bringthat subject unless to be studied, and is what the Spiritist Doctrine does, to be able to determine, if there aremiracles, what is a miracle, if God repeals His Laws to do miracles, and if Spiritism makes miracles?

    * * * * *

With this in mind, hence we will research a little in

the book": Genesis, chapter, XIII: 1-4 and 15":

Miracles according to theologyItem, 1) -.In its etymological acceptation, the word miracle, from mirari (Latin), admirer (French), signifies

to wander, an extraordinary or surprising thing, The French academy defines the word, an act of divine powercontrary to the known laws of nature. ().

One of the characters of a miracle, properly speaking, is that of inexplicability, which implies itsaccomplishment by supernatural laws; And such is the idea that it is attached to it, that, if it is possible to explaina miraculous fact, it is no more a miracle, people say, no matter how surprising it may be. ().

Item, 2) - Science produces miracles every day before the eyes of the ignorant. If a really dead man berecalled to life by divine intervention, this would be a veritable miracle, because it is a fact contrary to the laws of

nature; but, if the man had only the appearance of death, if he has still in him the remains of latent vitality, andscience or magnetic action succeeds in reanimating him, to enlightened people a natural phenomenon ispresented, but to the eyes of the ignorant the fact will appear miraculous.().

Item, 3) - The marvelous, expelled from the material domain by science, has been entrenched inSpiritism, which has been its last refuge. Spiritism, by demonstrating that the spiritual element is one of the livingforces of nature, a force continually acting concurrently with material forces, takes in the phenomena which arisein the circle of natural effects, because like all others, they are subject to law. If the marvelous is to be expelledfrom the realm of spirit, it has then no more existence; then alone can we say that the age of miracles has passed.(Chap., I: 18).

    4/6

Spiritism does not perform miraclesItem, 4) - Spiritism comes, then, in its turn to do that which each science has done at its advent, to reveal

new laws, and explain, consequently, the phenomena which are the result of these laws. ()The spirit is none other than the human life or soul which survives the body. It is the real indestructible

being which can not die, while the body is only a destructible accessory. Its existence is, therefore, as natural after

as during the incarnation. It is submitted to the laws governing the spiritual principle, as the body submits tothose which rule the material universe; but, as these two principles have a necessary affinity, as they incessantlyreact upon one another, as from their simultaneous action result the harmony and movement of the whole, itfollows that the spiritual and material elements are parts of the same whole, one as natural as the other, and thatthe first is not an exception, an animality in the order of things. ().

Does God perform miraclesItem, 15) - (). The question of miracles, then, is not, properly speaking, in the province of Spiritism; but,

sustaining itself by the reasoning that God makes nothing uselessly, this idea can be educed: that, miracles notbeing necessary to the glorification of God, nothing in the universe is diverted from the general laws. God doesnot perform miracles; since His laws are perfect, He has no need to derogate them. If there are some facts whichwe do not understand, it is because we have not the necessary knowledge to comprehend them."

    * * * * * * * * * *Well, we know that Jesus said, that nothing will be occult forever, 7 and much of Jesus' teachings are

being explained by Spiritism, because, with the keys which Spiritism brought us, on the attributes of God, theimmortal soul, reincarnation, the spiritual graduation, the multiplicity of lives and the multiplicity of worlds ofseveral graduations, etc., we understood that only with our evolution little by little the occult mysteries, areopening up for us; for instance what was mystery in the past of there being so many differences in people, somegood ones, other bad ones, some intelligent, others not, some born healthy others sick; now we know that it isaccording to the person's merit or be, of the Spirit and for that, it is not a mystery anymore, and so on it goes.

We know that Jesus also, for some time taught in the Temple and in the Synagogue, because we see inS. John, chap., XVIII:

"And the high priest interrogated Jesus concerning their disciples and of his doctrine.Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the Synagogue, and in the Temple,

whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

Why askest thou me? Ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what Isaid."8

Then we concluded that as Jesus said in prayer, that God would have revealed to the little ones and thesimple and hidden of the wise persons, it is noticed that the simple deposited faith and they didn't question, andthat the proud ones nor they wanted to hear or even to learn, and as Jesus explained to the high priest, that hetaught nothing in occult, I thence think.: would it be that Jesus taught about reincarnation and that the high Priestconsidered that doctrine as exclusive secret or hidden part of the teachings of the synagogue, being so Jesus waspublishing to the world a doctrine, that would be exclusive of the most initiate of the Temple. Would it have beenfor those reasons, that Jesus was expelled of Nazareth and consequently of the Synagogue

Would Jesus had have received persecution for teaching to the people what Jesus had considered thatthe people should know. Could it be that the high Priest pursued him in order to prohibit him,

Well, Jesus himself said that he spoke for whomever had ears to hear, Jesus spoke to a certain extent inmaxims and parables and concepts of the real life, instead of a lot of rules, which leads to nowhere and touches

not the soul, and for that reason his words had life and he spoke as who had authority and not as the scribes.

    9

Could it be that the teaching of the occult would had been the future life of the soul, because theconcepts taught sought out much to the future, such as: to Give the other face, to walk two miles to whoeverdemanded one, to make peace with the opponent, see you don't sin anymore; might it be that those teachings ofthat type or context were considered occult by the Priests for not teaching about the future life of the Spirit exceptfor merits and punishments of the type which nowadays is spoken, in Heaven and Hell or even of Purgatory.

Those teachings of Jesus' doctrine, that were more than real revelations, were certainly consideredoccult.

However, occult could be considered as unknown or not proven, but nowadays, with the natural andspiritist revelations, we already know quite a lot of what formerly were considered occult, and according to whatJesus had said: For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither anything hid, that shall not beknown and come abroad", 10it is because it is in the will of God that everything be revealed to us, but little by little, because that is the capacity of our understanding, may it then be done the Will of God, and let us thank Him, forSpiritism to bring us a knowledge on God, on us, on the future, and to bring us faith and hope in the future, respecting a consideration that God will always aid and give support to us His children.

Well, may God be with us, as well as formerly, today and always.
