THE 61ST ANNUAL GOLD COASTFASHION AWARD SHOW
HELPING KIDS IS ALWAYS IN FASHION
WELCOME AND THANK YOUFROM THE CO-CHAIRS
Over the past six decades, the Gold Coast Fashion Award Show has seen an evolution of style, trends and designer names but one element has remained timeless: helping kids is always in fashion.
As mothers to young children, this mission is one that is close to our hearts and your attendance tonight shows that you too are committed to our cause. For that we, along with the patients and families of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, are deeply grateful.
Every dollar we raise here tonight will directly support the Children’s Service Board’s $1.5 million commitment to the Division of Hematology, Oncology, Neuro-Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation. Your contributions are paving the way toward advanced research breakthroughs, offering patient families signs of hope and, most importantly, providing children with the chance at healthier futures.
A very special thank you to all those who made this evening possible including our generous sponsors, fellow board members and featured designers.
We are once again thrilled to present you with an evening of fashion and philanthropy unlike any other. Enjoy the presentation and thank you for joining us for the 61st Annual Gold Coast Fashion Award Show.

REMEMBERING OUR FOUNDER
On October 13, 2015, Catherine “Pinkie” Garver died at the age of 98 after a full, long and healthy life. Pinkie was born in Neligh, Nebraska and moved to Chicago in 1940. She quickly got involved in charity work and after planning small events such as second hand clothing and holiday card sales, she founded the Gold Coast Fashion Award Show in 1955 to benefit the Chicago Maternity Center. The ticket price of the first show held at the Ambassador Hotel was $6 and sold out immediately. The show has been held without interruption since its inception 60 years ago. Since 1986, the Gold Coast Fashion Award Show has been the signature event of the Children’s Service Board (CSB) raising life-saving funds in support of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Until 1995, Pinkie was an active CSB member, always overseeing reservations and the seating of our 1,500 guests.
The Children’s Service Board is grateful for Pinkie’s legacy, her unwavering dedication to Chicago’s children and her many years of encouragement. In recognition of Pinkie Garver’s service, a Window of Hope at Lurie Children’s will be named in her honor.

CHILDREN’S SERVICE BOARD HISTORY
The Children’s Service Board (CSB) was founded in 1955 by Pinkie L. Garver as the Extension Board of the Chicago Maternity Center. It affiliated with Children’s Memorial Hospital, now Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, in 1986. The partnership formally united a proven volunteer force of dynamic women with Chicago’s most respected pediatric healthcare institution. The CSB is proud to support the hospital’s mission of providing pediatric healthcare excellence to children and their families throughout the Chicago area, all 50 United States, and 46 countries. To date, the board has raised more than $15 million in support of hospital services and programs that are critical to the quality of care.
The 61st Annual Gold Coast Fashion Award Show supports the Children’s Service Board’s $1.5 million commitment over 2.5 years to the Division of Hematology, Oncology, Neuro-Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, led by Stewart Goldman, MD. Funds raised will contribute to the recruitment of a highly-specialized and qualified physician-scientist in the field of Molecular Oncology to lead the hospital’s Molecular Oncology and Bioinformatics Program.
The program will treat children with a wide range of cancers, especially those resistant to standard therapies. This investment holds the potential to produce breakthroughs that will not only benefit the lives of current patients but change the future generations of children here and elsewhere.
