Allianz HL: Cork v
Tipperary Following their victory
over Kilkenny, Cork
play Tipperary in the
final game of the Allianz
Hurling League on
Sunday at 2.30pm in
Thurles. While Cork look
reasonably sure of a
semi-final spot, it all
comes down to the final
round of games, and
victory on Sunday
would see the Rebels
top the table. Support is
vital, so let’s make the
trip to Tipp on Sunday
to support our team!
Admission €13, concs.
€5 and U16s FREE!
GAA President’s Awards Congratulations to Dr. Con Murphy, who was recently honoured with a
GAA President's Award by Uachtarán Chumann Luthchleas Gael, Christy
Cooney. Dr. Con is in his 37th year of service to the Cork teams, and all
on a voluntary basis. He was on duty with Cork hurling teams in 13 All-
Ireland finals up to 2005 and Cork's appearance in the football final two
years ago marked his 23rd All-Ireland in total – part of a lifetime of
service to the GAA. The awards were presented on March 16th in Croke
Park, with the recipients also honoured during the All-Ireland Club Finals
on St. Patrick’s Day.

Cuana. Pic: Sportsfile
Sheila Spillane, long-serving member of Killeagh Camogie Club in East
Cork was also honoured at the recent awards. Sheila has given a lifetime
of service to the club and since 1973 more than 1000 girls from the
locality have had the opportunity to play the game. A testament to the
current president of the club is that eight years ago she spent her
winnings from the GAA club lotto on a defibrillator machine.
Best of Luck to Cork U21 Footballers! Cork begin the defence of their Munster U21 Football title against Clare
on Wednesday in the Munster U21 Football Semi-Final at 7.30pm in Páirc

website, www.gaacork.ie, where you’ll also find the Cork team, and on
our Twitter page at https://twitter.com/#!/OfficialCorkGAA.

Playing Abroad
GAA players who are
travelling to the U.S.A.
or Canada for the
summer must receive a
sanction to allow them
play on a temporary
basis with clubs in these
areas. A decision of Ard
Chomhairle recently
made it compulsory for
all players to obtain
insurance cover from
the GAA before a
sanction to the U.S.A.
or Canada can be
granted. This insurance
can be purchased at
www.gaa.ie/sanctionins
urance where the €40
fee can be paid by
Laser, Visa or
Mastercard.
