o AstheIsraeliteswereslavesinEgypt,GodwasalreadyworkingoutHisgloriousplantodeliverthem.HechoseMosestobetheonetoleadthemoutoftheirslavery.GodprovidedMoses'brotherAarontocomealongandspeaktoPharaohwithhim.MosesandAaronapproachedPharaohandpresentedaseeminglyridiculousrequest:"Letmypeoplego."SincetheIsraeliteswerethemajorworkforceinEgypt,Pharaohrealizedthatlettingthemgowouldputahalttoanyworkinhiskingdom.Pharaoh'sresponsewasno.However,GodwasdeterminedtodisplayHispowerandtoredeemHispeople.GodbroughtgreatplaguesupontheEgyptians,demonstratingHissovereigntyoverallcreationandallpeople—evenEgyptiankings. EachplagueputEgyptinanincreasinglydesperatesituation.ThelastplaguetemporarilybrokePharaoh’sresolve.Whilegrievingforhiseldestson,PharaohfinallylettheIsraelitesgo.
o Exodus12:30‐42;14:5‐31o Oftentimes,itishardforustoseethebigpicture.AstheIsraeliteswereworkingasslavesforyearsandyears,they
likelydidnotfeelthattheywereexperiencingthegoodnessofGod.Itwaseasyduringthosetimestoforgetthattherewasabiggerstoryatwork.GodhadmoreinmindfortheIsraelites.TheIsraelites’timeinslaverywasonlyatinyportionofthegrandstorythatGodbeganatcreationandwillultimatelyfinishinthelastdays.Thisistrulyastoryofourredemptionand,moreimportantly,adisplayofHisglory.TheBottomLine:GoddisplayedHisgoodnessandHisgreatnessastheOnewhodeliversHispeoplefromslavery,apictureoftheslaveryHewoulddeliverusfromthroughChristintheNewTestament.ByHisgraceandinHispower,HedeliversusfromdarknessandbringsusintoHislight.Questions:HowwasthisstoryadisplayofGod'sgoodness?HowdidGoddisplayHisgoodnessandfaithfulnesseventhroughtheplagues?WhatisanareainyourlifethatyouarewaitingforGodtoshowHisfaithfulness?

WechosethissongforthisweekbecauseGodisworthyofourpraisenomatterourcircumstances.ThesituationthatGod’speoplewereinduringtheirslaveryinEgyptisaprimeexample.Godwasstillsovereign,andHewasstillgoodeventhroughtheirsuffering.Evenindifficulttimes,weknowthatHeissovereignandthatHecaresforus.He
