OVERVIEW
CONTONGA
The Contonga mine is an underground multimetallic mine with more than 25 years of operatinghistory. The mine which is located approximately 470 kilometers from Lima, Peru, is currentlyprocessing around 990 tonnes of ore daily.
In 2014, Nyrstar expects to obtain the authorization to increase daily processing capacitywhile continuing with mineral exploration programs that which will ensure the future of theoperation. The Contonga mine is managed in conjunction with the Coricancha and Pucarrajomines by a single experienced management team, utilizing the shared services of Nyrstar’s Limaoffice.
CORICANCHA
The Coricancha mine is an underground multi-metallic mine with more than 60 years ofoperating history. It is currently on care and maintenance. The mine’s poly-metallic processingplant utilizes the BIOX® bio-leaching process to recover refractory gold in an environmentallysound manner. Coricancha mine is located approximately 90 kilometers east of Lima, Peru inclose proximity to a number of other significant mining operations and exploration properties.
PUCARRAJO
The Pucarrajo mine is an underground multimetallic minewhich had been in operation for more than 30 years, andwas operating at approximately 1,000 tonnes per daybefore it was placed on care and maintenance in 2008due to weak metal prices. The Pucarrajo mine remains oncare and maintenance. Nyrstar continues to assess theramp up of this mine in the future.
