How  To  Expand  Your  Reach  With  Education-­‐Based  Marketing  Content  

 

Education-­‐Based  Marketing  Content  is  a  broad  term  used  to  classify  educational  material  used  by  businesses  and  organizations  to  attract  ideal  clients.  Unlike  direct  advertising,  which  is  often  ‘in  the  face’  of  consumers,  it  is  used  as  a  passive  resource  to  attract  potential  customers.  

In  order  to  attract  a  wide  potential  customer  base,  it  is  beneficial  to  offer  many  types  of  Education-­‐Based  Marketing  Content.    Depending  on  your  industry  and  niche  you  can  be  creative  with  your  content,  but  here  are  some  ideas  to  get  you  started:  

• Videos  –  Record  yourself  talking  about  your  own  personal  journey,  instructing  a  lesson,  or  doing  an  interview.    

• Podcasts  –  Similar  to  video  but  audio  only,  record  yourself  telling  your  own  story,  instructing  a  lesson,  giving  an  interview,  etc.    Make  it  available  for  download,  so  people  can  listen  ‘on  the  go’.  

• Webinars/Teleseminars  –  Provide  training  and  information  through  your  website  or  over  the  phone.  You  can  show  yourself  speaking,  demonstrate  your  products,  or  simply  giving  a  lesson.  Webinars  and  teleseminars  can  be  broadcasted  to  thousands  of  people  at  one  time  and  they  can  all  tune-­‐in  from  the  comfort  of  their  own  homes.  

• Live  Events  –  Give  a  presentation  at  a  live  event.  Rather  than  focusing  on  selling  your  product,  simply  offer  a  great  presentation  filled  with  useful  information  that  will  attract  your  ideal  client.  

• Blog  Articles  –  Maintain  a  blog  on  your  website  and  keep  your  potential  customers  up-­‐to-­‐date  with  current  events,  new  products  and  services,  and  the  latest  trends.  

• Digital  Magazine  –  a  great  interactive  medium  that  allows  you  to  insert  videos,  audio  files  and  links  to  other  websites.  It  can  be  free  or  you  can  charge  a  small  fee  (e.g.,  digital  magazines  are  available  in  the  iTunes  and  Google  Play  stores).  

• Reports  –  Create  reports  providing  data  on  the  outcome  of  your  products  and  services.    Add  credibility  to  your  name  by  showing  evidence  that  other  people  have  benefited  from  what  you  offer.  

• Gift  Giveaways  –  Give  away  a  sample  of  your  product,  or  something  that  most  people  would  like  (e.g.,  iPad).  

• Article  Marketing  –  Write  an  article  for  somebody  else’s  magazine  to  extend  your  reach  to  their  audience.  Demonstrate  your  knowledge  and  expertise.  You  often  have  the  opportunity  to  include  a  by-­‐line  where  you  can  insert  your  personal  contact  information.

2  • Newsletters  –  Create  a  monthly  newsletter  full  of  educational  articles,  upcoming  live  events,  links  

to  useful  resources,  etc.  Include  articles  from  guest  writers  and  links  to  other  people’s  events  to  attract  a  wider  readership  base.  

• Books  and  eBooks  –  There’s  no  better  way  to  show  people  ‘what  you  are  all  about’,  than  to  write  your  own  book  or  ebook  about  your  journey  and  accomplishments.    

• Press  Releases  –  Make  an  announcement  by  way  of  a  press  release.  Speak  to  TV  and  radio  producers,  magazine  editors,  journalists  and  online  affiliates  to  get  your  message  broadcasted  to  a  large  audience.  

• Manifesto  –  Declare  and  publish  the  goals  you  have  for  your  business  and  how  you  plan  to  accomplish  those  goals  with  the  products  and  services  you  offer.    

• Membership  Site  –  Provide  a  website  with  access  for  members  only.  Make  it  an  inviting  place  for  ideal  clients  to  go  for  information  and  advice.    You  can  slowly  feed  them  information  on  your  products  and  services  while  providing  free  useful  information,  tips,  samples,  templates  and  other  useful  documents.  

• Tweets  and  Facebook  Posts  –  Keep  followers  up  to  date  with  new  products  and  services,  information  about  live  events,  press  releases,  and  any  other  message  you  want  a  large  audience  to  see.  

The  above  examples  are  just  some  of  the  many  ways  to  ensure  your  Education-­‐Based  Marketing  Content  provides  value  to  prospects  and  clients  and  positions  your  expertise.      Don’t  feel  overwhelmed  by  all  the  choices  you  have,  simply  pick  a  couple  approaches  and  start  using  them  today.
