My radio station was called Pulse FM and it was based on the radio station BBC Radio 1 as it is a popular radio station.

4 stories all different genres
Weather report

+
For the main task I was to complete was to create a 5 minute radio newscast.

The newscast which also had an interview and vox-pop as part of my main task.
+In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and convections of real media products? Formal
Target audience- Young adults , All ethnicity’s, students (college/sixth formers)
Raising awareness
In terms of my news story ‘E.M.A Fraud’, it doesn’t challenge any forms or conventions of real media products. This is because it is a serious topic that aims to raise awareness and inform.
+How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Particular target audience 16-18
Parents
E.M.A company
+
The overall story states how parents are committing fraud through E.M.A. E.M.A companies are being represented as the “victims” this is due to the false information they receive from parents trying to claim money which is not rightfully theirs.
On the other hand the parents are perceived in a negative manner because they are the ones falsely claiming.
+Institutions
What kind of institutions might distribute your product and why?.
My clip is related to Radio 1 as my storyline is suitable for this station. Radio 1 would most likely to distribute my product because it’s related to everyday life and their target audience 15-29 and we aim at the younger end of that
+Audience Who would be the audience for your media project?
+
12-20 years
Younger years
Age ranges apply different to each piece of news
Our main target audience is aimed at young teenagers between the age of 12-20 for the media project. Each story however focuses on a particular age range for example the ‘E.M.A Fraud’ story is a more serious piece of news therefore it would aim more at the higher range of age around 16-20.
+How did you attract/address your audience?
Access to radio:
- Television
- Internet
- Mobile Phones
+
Due to techonology advancing, people are able to access radio in a variety of ways rather than having a radio. People can access radio through phones, internet, mp3 players and television.
There are now faster ways for the audience to access the radio so they can interact with our radio broadcast.
+What have you learnt about the technologies from the process of constructing this product?
+ Convergance
- PS3
- Xbox
- Mobile phones
Radio is accessible through these.
D.A.B Radio
+
There is a lot learnt about the technologies from radio. One of these which is ‘Convergence’ the combination of two things to create something bigger and better.
For example radio combines with game consoles as you can listen to radio through them. You can access radio through mobile phones and most mp3 players. D/A/B Radio is digital broadcasting.
It can broadcast more globally in places and its quality is also much better. They have listed stations to make it easier to access.

+
What have you learnt in the progression from the preliminary task to the main task?
Editing
Journalism
Radio history
Media products
Radio technology
Convergence
+
Throughout the progression from my preliminary task to my main task, I have learnt various methods and practices of radio usage and audio. I learnt the different skills and methods used to record and broadcast news and how it can be accessed through combined products such as radio access through mobile phones. I have also learnt the skills of editing voice clips and a radio station opening and its history of radio.
Furthermore I have also learnt about the different media products and technology and how far it advancing.
There is also the skill of research, as I have researched real news and recorded my own interview for my story. The skills of Journalism had been found whilst progressing. I found many ways in which to improve my own radio newscast so then it can appeal to the audience and improves its professionalism.
