Connecting Global Competence
Smart thanks to electronicsMedicine of the future
Medicine without electronics? Hard to imagine! Firstly, the health-care system is changing. The increasing digitalization is already leaving its mark. The vision „Medicine 4.0“ with e.g. a digital patient fi le will not become reality without sensors, mobile devices and secure software solutions.
Secondly, bio electronics is considered to be one of the most interesting fi elds of research: Healing through electronical implants. For instance, the target is that disabled people should control their protheses only with the help of their thoughts or that a neurosti-mulator should measure the brain waves of epileptics, correcting anomalies with electrical impulses even before a seizure occurs.
Mini implants for the peripheral nervous system outside the brain and spinal cord are to treat chronic diseases such as diabetes, arthritis and asthma, i.e. diseases with irregular impulses in the nerve pathways.
All this is the task of electronics, but at the end of the day it‘s up to patients and medical staff to decide about what will prevail.
Communication is the miracle cure that prevents that expensive devices get dusty unused.

Answers instead of questionsHealth care needs communication
For the fi rst time, a platform for mutual exchange will be offered in 2018 by the electronica Medical Conference (eMEC), hosted by the Messe München and the market-leading media brands Medizin&Elektronik, Elektronik and Markt&Technik of WEKA FACHMEDIEN in the context of electronica trade fair 2018 on November 15, 2018 in Munich. In addition to lectures, innova-tive discussion formats above all should bring both sides together - at eye level and in the same language.
What‘s the latest in Surgery 4.0? What possibilities does Smart Regeneration offer? What are the challenges in hospital cyber security? Are robots colleagues or competitors? eMEC 2018 is not only asking these questions, it also answers them - from the perspectives of both the electronical and medical sides. The range of topics includes:
The eMEC is part of the electronica Conferences and will be held on November 15, 2018 during electronica 2018 at the ICM-Inter-national Congress Center Munich.

KeynotesGround breaking keynotes highlight the most important topics from me-dicine and electronics and dare to take a look into the health care of the future.
LecturesExciting lectures give an insight into how medicine and electronics work together in everyday life - today and tomorrow.
Panel discussionsPanel discussions with active involve-ment of the audience are the perfect platform for a controversial and solu-tion-oriented dialogue.
Open space discussionsThe intensive discussions in small rounds do not follow a „script“. Course and results remain open until the end.
„Date a problem“Medical scientists and engineers discuss a common problem and fi nd a solution on site.
„Pro&Con“A verbal exchange between two people. In the end, the audience decides by a digital voting, who has won the debate.

Open dialogueCommunication needs space!
Only in an open dialogue medical and electronical problems can be discussed and solved - together instead of everyone separately.
To this end, the eMEC with its innovative event and room concept provides the ideal setting. All lecture and discussion formats take place simultaneously in one room and offer participants the possi-bility to plan their day individually and to take an active part in the programme.
