A TEENAGER has scooped a£50,000 prize for his brilliantbusiness idea in the Young Start-up Talent for East Kentcompetition.

Cameron Smith, 18, wasnamed the winner at a showcasefinal at the Gulbenkian Theatrein Canterbury on Wednesday.

Cameron, a student atRamsg ate’s Chatham andClarendon Grammar School,created a business called Madeto Measure, aimed at providing areliable and personal cleaningexperience with those who ownsecond homes.

The showcase was hosted byfounders Lorraine Nugent andMatt Turner, with guest speakersincluding Pete Kenyon of Cripps,Bob Heapy of Town and CountryHousing Group, Mairi Coylefrom the Gulbenkian Theatrealongside two previous winners– Sam French of Sam’s Kitchenand Eden Tiltman of Bales CareAg ency.

Cameron said: “I’m feelingecstatic! It’s been hard work buteven if I hadn’t won, theexperience has been amazing.I’m so pleased!”

Chief executive of Town andCountry Housing, Bob Heapy,

added: “A fantastic process andit’s a great initiative to beinvolved in. We are proud to bethe lead sponsor and it’s brilliantto see the impact it’s having.”

■ William Ward, 23William is a graduate fromthe University of Kent.William has a businesscalled Imerzo and is hopingto adapt in-flightentertainment, updatingcurrent systems to makethem more viable,intelligent and intuitive forfuture users. In what is avery fast-paced industry,this concept could be thenext big project in theaeronautical industry.

■ Sammy Ali, 18Sammy, from Margate,developed a concept calledInfusion Weddings,designed to help couplesthrough the planningstages of a wedding, in astress-free environmentfrom the comfort of theirown homes. With thewedding industry inconstant demand thiscould be a very interestingprospect to follow.
