Defining “Science”

Two basic types of science:• Operational Science: Uses observable,

repeatable experiments to try to discover truth

• Origin Science: Relies on relics from the past and historical records to try to discover truth

Main Difference: Operation science is based upon the

present whereas origin science is based upon the past.

Not All Scientists Endorse Evolutionary Theory

Dr. Raymond Damadian:• Young-earth Creationist • Credited by many as “the man

who invented the MRI scanner.” • He has received numerous

awards for his work.• Inducted into the National

Inventors Hall of Fame in 1989

“When our research is based upon biblical truths about the past, we find that our interpretations of the biological and geological

facts make sense of what we see in the real world, whereas

evolutionary interpretations don’t really fit what we see.”

Geology:

“…geologists have begun to

recognize that catastrophic

processes are a better

explanation for many of the earth’s rock

layers.” - http://www.answersingenesis.org

Genesis 7:19And the waters

prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under

the whole heaven were covered.

Time/The Universe Had a Beginning

"The conclusion of this lecture is that the universe has

not existed forever. Rather, the

universe, and time itself, had a

beginning…" - Stephen Hawking (1942- ) “The

Beginning of Time”

1 Corinthians 2:7

But we speak the wisdom of

God in a mystery, the

hidden wisdom which God

ordained before the ages for our

glory,

The Universe is Expanding

Astronomer Edwin Hubble's landmark paper on the rate of expansion of the universe was published in 1929.

Isaiah 44:24 “…I am the LORD, who makes all things, Who

stretches out the heavens all

alone, Who spreads abroad

the earth by Myself;

The Cessation of Creation

"Because there is a law such as gravity, the

universe can and will create itself from

nothing," he writes. "Spontaneous creation is

the reason there is something rather than

nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist.”

- Stephen Hawking

Number of Stars:

• Brahe guessed 777.• Kepler claimed 1,005.• Hipparchus found 1,022• Ptolemy raised the

number to 1,056. • Today many scientists

have admitted, “Space is probably infinite…”

- Francis Halzen, professor of physics

Jeremiah 33:22 “…the

host of heaven

cannot be numbered,

nor the sand of the sea

measured…”

the earth?

ThermodynamicsEvolutionary thought describes a universe that is evolving and becoming more highly organized and complex.

Psalm 102:25–26Of old You laid the

foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. 26

They will perish…they will all grow old like a

garment…

Movement of LightSir Isaac Newton (1642 – 1727) is accredited for having discovered the movement of light .

Job 38:19–20 “Where is the way to the dwelling of light?

And darkness, where is its place, 20 That you

may take it to its territory, That you may know the paths to its

home?

Order of Creation •The Bible tells us that earth began as a “water world.”

•Alfred Wegener discovered Pangaea in 1915. After discovering the idea of tectonic plates.

Psalm 104:66 You covered it with the deep as

with a garment; The waters stood above

the mountains.

Valleys & Springs Exist on the Bottom of the Sea (1872-1876) British scientists aboard HMS Challenger is credited with providing the first real view of major seafloor features such as the deep ocean basins.

Job 38:16 “Have you entered the springs of the sea? Or

have you walked in search of the depths?

Bernard Palissy Credited in the 16th century to be the scientist who compiled the theories that existed for years and "wrote" our modern hydrological cycle.

The Bible Teaches:

Gen. 1:11 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb [that] yields seed, [and] the fruit tree [that] yields fruit

according to its kind, whose seed [is] in itself, on the earth"; and it was so.

Gen. 1:21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded,

according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that [it was] good.

Gen. 1:24 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living

creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, [each] according to its kind"; and it was so.
