Whatwouldsummerprogramlooklikeifwewipedtheslatecleanandhadthreegreatproper6esatourdisposal?HowcanweprovidethebeststafftoputonthosegreatprogramsforALLofourScouts?Howcanweensure thateachofourcampproper6es is relevantand important toUnits, families,and thecommunity?Thesearetheques6onsthatdrovetheplanningforsummercampprogramsatFirelandsScoutReserva6on,BeaumontScoutReserva6on,andCampS6gwandish.Wetalkedtocountlessformerstaffmembers,volunteers,variouscommiIees,Scouters,Scouts,andprofessionalstafftodeterminethestrugglesandstrengthsofeachoftheproper6esandthefeedbackwereceiveddrovethevisionfurther.

WelearnedthatFirelandsishighlyregardedatgreatcampforfirstandsecondyearScouts,andhasallthe facili6es and size to make a premier Cub Scout Camp. We learned that Beaumont has beenaIrac6ngmoreandmoreTroopsoverthelast5years,andolderScoutsneverrunoutofnewthingstodothere.WelearnedthatS6gwandishisatrulygorgeouspropertyandhasarus6cqualityanduniqueloca6onthatmakesitperfectforOutpostPrograms.WelearnedthatCubScoutprogramshavelargelybeenneglected,needingtoberevampedandadedicatedstafftomakethemgreat.Thisandmorewelearnedfromacrossournewcouncil.

Takingall that intoaccount,wepresent the summer residentprogramplan for Scou6ng inNortheastOhio!

FirelandsScoutReserva6onwillhireafullstafffortwomonthsofprogramatbothCampWyandotandCampAveryHand.FSRwillserveasthehomeforCubScoutprogramsincludingDayCamp,CubScoutResident Camp,Webelos Explora6onCamp, and Family Resident Camp! Beaumont Scout Reserva6onwill be theepicenter forBoy Scout summer camp, andhas addeda5thweek to its repertoire. CampS6gwandishwillseeareturnofDayCamptoitstrails,aswellasprovidemanyOutpostProgramsfortheBoy Scouts aIending Beaumont all summer long! Venturers and Explorers can also find at home atBeaumontandS6gwandishforolderScoutprogramstheyprovidethere.

ThesedecisionswerenotlightlymadeandhavehadthebestinterestsoftheScoutsandUnits,Scou6ngFamily-wide,atheart.However,werecognizethatchangeisalwaysdifficult,andwehopetoeasethattransi6on in several ways. First, are working with Troops who had already made reserva6ons forFirelands to move the corresponding week at Beaumont, or to find a next-best alterna6ve week.Further, our guarantee stands: If our staff does notmeet or exceed your unit’s expecta:on for an

excep:onalsummerprogram,wewillpayyourdeposittothecampofyourchoosingnextsummer.
