StudentServicesUpdatesPass/NoPassGrading
24
• By Executive Order, the state Chancellor has modified Title 5 as it relates to pass/no-pass grading.
• The big picture is that the P/NP option can now be selected by a student well into the semester. In the past there was a deadline at 30% of the term.
• Second, the Chancellor ordered the option to be available to all classes. That part of the executive order created some complications related to major prep and transfer, which require action by our local Academic Senate.

26
• The last sentence of Board Policy 4100.2 to lift the prohibition on students satisfying their major requirements or area of emphasis for an Associate Degree by earning a “P” grade on courses taken during those semesters;
• Board Policy 4100.11c to enable students to elect the pass/no pass grading option in courses taken during these semesters toward UC-IGETC and CSU-IGETC Certificates of Achievement without reducing the maximum of 14 units otherwise permitted for this purpose.

• College the Canyons recently launched our second cohort for the Google IT program in March.
• The program currently has 15 participants enrolled and we are looking to fill vacant seats with displaced workers in the Santa Clarita Valley.
• The program is self-paced and completely online.
• The best part is that there is no cost to join this program.
• If we receive enough demand we can request additional seats through our program sponsor.
