SANITATIONAdoption of Provincial Ordinance 002 - 2000:
SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENTIn 2000, Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act was enacted.
It provides the legal framework for a systematic, comprehensive and ecological solid waste management program that shall ensure protection of public health and the environment.
It underscores, among other things the need to create the necessary institutional mechanisms and incentives, as well a impose penalties for acts in violation of any of its provisions.
Furthermore, Republic Act 9003 gives prime importance to the roles of LGUs in managing their respective solid wastes.
What are our problems here in our barangay on waste disposal –
•Garbage are left to streets, vacant lots which become breeding places for flies and other insects that spread communicable diseases.
•Some are thrown in drainage and canals which block the sewerage system that cause floods even with minimal rainfall.
•Some are burned resulting to air pollution.
What still need to be done by us –•Conduct information drive •Educate our people at the Purok Level•Educate youth and children in our school•Educate business sectors•Conduct house to house campaign•Create a Barangay Ecological Solid Waste management Team to help and spread the Campaign in our Puroks•Pass an Ordinance on Solid Waste Management
