TURN THOUGHTS INTO ACTION
BRAIN GATE TECHNOLOGY
PREPARED BY
INTRODUCTION SLIDE NO :02
“Brain Gate Technology is a ‘brain-computer interface that uses internal neural signal sensor and external processors to convert neural signals into an output signal under the users own control.”
☼ What is BGT ?
BGT is consist of an Inter neural signal sensor and External
Processors.
The sensor consists of a silicon array about 100 electrodes that detect brain cell electrical activity.
The chip is implanted on the surface of brain in the motor cortex area that controls movement.
External Processors convert neural signals into an output signal.
The computers translate output signal and create the communication output using custom decoding software.
PROCEDURE SLIDE NO :03
☼ How its works ?
TYPES:
Based on communicative Pathway :
One Way BGT: Computers either accept commands from the brain or send signals to it.
Two Way BGT: Brains and external devices can exchange information in both directions.

TYPES:
BASED ON FEATURES :
A. Invasive BGT: Invasive BGT are implanted directly into the grey matter of the brain during neurosurgery.
B. Non Invasive BGT: Non-Invasive BGT are just like wearable virtual reality devices.
C. Partially Invasive BGT: Partially invasive BGT devices are implanted inside the skull but rest outside the brain.
SLIDE NO :06
Allow paralyzed people to control prosthetic limbs with their mind
Allowing blind person to see.
Allow a mute person to have their thoughts displayed and spoken by a computer
Making and receiving telephone calls; Control robots; Use the pc; Locking or unlocking doors etc.
☼ ADVANTAGES
Research is still in beginning stages
Expensive
Risky Surgery
Difficulty in adaptation and learning.
☼ Problems with BGT
SLIDE NO :11
The invention of Brain gate is such a revolution in medical field.
But it has several complexities. At its current stage, it is not accessible to most people due to its huge cost.
BGT have the potential to revolutionize the practice of medical and daily life.
