1.1 InstructionThe Piezo Scaler is mainly used for teeth cleaning and also indispensable equipment for tooth disease prevention and treatment. Thenew product Piezo Scaler has scaling, periodontal, and endodontic functions. It has a tank of solution integrated with the follow features:1. A water supply function thanks to a water bottle for an easier operation.2. The inner water pipe is made from antiseptic material, solutions, such as Hydrogen peroxide, chlorhexidineand sodium Hypochlorite, etc, so that the performance of periodontal and endodontic is improved dramatically.3. The handpiece is detachable and can be autoclaved to the temperature of 135°C and the pressure of 0,22 MPa.4. Automatic frequency tracking ensures that the machine always works on the best frequency and performs more steadily.

2.1 Scaling function (G) and periodontal function (P)• Open the packing box, make sure that all the parts and accessories are complete according to the packing list. Take the main unitout of the box and put it on a stable plane.• Turn the water control knob to the max.• Insert the plug of the foot switch to its socket. (See figure 3)• Water way installation :* Water supply thanks to the water bottle :Install the bottle with adequate water or solution.* Outside water installation :Connect one end of the water pipe to the water entrance of the main unit, and the other end to the water source.

• Connect the handpiece and the connector of cable correctly.• Insert the plug of the power source to its socket.• Switch on the main unit.- For the scaling function (G) the scaling indicator and the first five power indicators shine.- For periodontal function (P) the scaling indicator and the first three power indicators shine.

• Press water button to choose of water function. The indicator of chosen mode is on.• Select a suitable scaling tip as you need then screw it on the handpiece tightly by the torque wrench.• Under the normal working state of the scaling tip, light touch and a certain to-and-fro motion will eliminate the tartar without heating.Overexertion and long-time lingering are forbidden.• Vibrating intensity : Adjust the power of the vibrations as you need. According to patient’s different sensitivity and the rigidity of thetartar, adjust the vibrating intensity during the clinical treatment.• Water volume adjust : Step on the foot switch, and the tip begins to vibrate, then turn the water control knob to form fine spray tocool down the handpiece and clean the teeth.• The handpiece must be handled in the same gesture as a pen in hand.• During the clinical treatment, be sure not to make the end of tip touch the teeth vertically and not to make the tip overexert in caseof leading to a pain and damaging the tip.• After finishing operation, keep the machine working for 30 seconds on the water supply condition in order to clean the hand- pieceand the scaling tip.• Unscrew the scaling tip and pull out handpiece, then sterilize them.

Notice: Don’t pull out the handpiece when the foot switch is stepped on and the machine is producing ultrasonic vibrations.Please don’t choose dry mode unless needed in the treatment, please don’t make the machine work under dry mode for a long time.The teeth will be hurt in the handpiece and tips getting overheat during the treatment.

2.2 Endodontic function (E)Usage process• Fix endochuck to handpiece by endo wrench. Screw it to the max.• Unscrew the screw cap on the endochuck.• Put the ultrasonic file into the hole at the bottom of endochuck.

• Screw the screw cap to the max with endo wrench to tight up the ultrasonic file.• Press option function, turn to endo function (E).• When ultrasonic scaler turns into endo function, only the first power indicator is on and the power is at 1st grade.Put the ultrasonic file into the patient’s root canal slowly, step on the foot switch to start endo treatment. During the treatment, turn upthe power gradually according to the needs.The power range of endo treatment is advised from the 1st to the 5th grade.

2.3 Water supply function thanks to the water bottle• Pull out the water bottle vertically.• Open the lid, fill the bottle with adequate solution.• Make sure the air hole and water entrance are unblocked. (See Figure 8)• Tighten the lid.• Clean the joint and interface of water bottle before each clinical operation.• Check if the cushion inside the lid is on good condition. If it becomes deformed or falls off, reinstall or change it.• Place the bottle with water upside down, insert the joint into the interface vertically.• Press “WATER” to choose water supply thanks to the water bottle.• After each clinical operation with clinical liquid, change a bottle with purified water, turn the water supply to max, make the machinework with auto-water supply for 30 seconds in order to keep the water way and spare parts clean and durable.• When the water is lower than water level lower limit, please add water.

3.1. Sterilization of detachable handpiece:

• Temperature options and pressure in autoclave: up to 135°C/2,2 bar (0,22 MPa).

• Pull out the handpiece and unscrew the scaling tip or endochuck after each operation. Remove the cleaning liquid in the handpiecewith compressed air before sterilization.

• Pack the handpiece with sterile gauze or in a sterilisable bag before sterilizing.

• Sterilize the handpiece in an autoclave.• Please notice whether the outer of the handpiece is damaged during the treatment or sterilization. Don’t smear any protective oilon the surface of handpiece.

• There are two waterproof “o” rings at the end of handpiece. Please lubricate them with dental lube frequently, as sterilization andrepeated pulling and inserting will reduce their life. Change a new one once it is damaged or worn excessively.

• The following sterilizing methods are forbidden:- Immerse the handpiece into any liquid for boiling.- Immerse the handpiece in disinfectors such as iodine, alcohol and glutaraldehyde.- Heating of the handpiece into oven or microwave oven.

3.2. Cleaning of tips, endochuck, torque wrench and endo wrench.

• The scaling tip, endochuck, torque wrench and endo wrench can be cleaned by ultrasonic cleaner.

3.3. Sterilization of scaling tips and endochuck and torque wrench.

• All the scaling tips and endochuck can be autoclaved under high temperature and pressure.

• The following sterilization ways for torque wrench are forbidden:- Braise in liquor- Dip in iodine, alcohol or glutaraldehyde.- Torrefy in oven or microwave oven.

Notice: We are not responsible for any damage of the torque wrench directly indirectly made by any way.

4. Troubleshooting and Notes

• The power plug is in loose contact. • The foot switch is in loose contact. • The fuse in the main unit is broken.

• Screw the tip on the handpiece tightly (See Figure 6). • Contact our dealers or us. • Send the handpiece to repair. • Contact our dealers or us.

• Make the plug insert to the socket well. • Insert the foot switch to its socket tightly.

• The tip is in loose contact. • The connect plug between the handpiece and the circuit board is in loose contact. • Something wrong with the handpiece.

The scaling tip doesn’t vibrate and there is no water flowing out when stepping

on the foot switch.

• There is air in the water pipe. • Turn the water control to the max. • Reinsert the bottle.

There is no water coming out fromthe handpiece

(water supply by the water bottle).

• There is impurity in the electric-magnetic valve. • Contact our dealers or us.There is still water flowing out after the power is off.

• The water control knob is in a low setting. • Turn the water control knob to a higher grade.The handpiece generates heat.

• The water pressure is not high enough. • Make the water pressure higher.

The amount of spouting water is too little.

• The waterproof “o” ring is damaged. • Change by a new “o” ring.There is water seeping between the handpiece and the cable.

The scaling tip doesn’t vibrate but there is water flowing out when stepping

on the foot switch.

• Turn on the water control know (See Remark 1). • Contact our dealers or us.

• The water control knob is not turned off. • There is impurity in the electric-magnetic valve. • The water system is blocked.

The scaling tip vibrates but there is no spraywhen stepping on the

foot switch.

• Screw the tip on the handpiece tightly. • Dry it by the hot air.

• The tip hasn’t been screwed on to the handpiece tightly. • The coupling between the handpiece and the cable isn’t dry. • The tip is damaged (See Remark 2).

The vibration of the tip becomes weak.

RemarksRemark 1.• Turn the water control knob as symbol showed. It comes to the min, on the contrary direction, it comes to the max.

Remark 2.• If the scaling tip has been screwed on tightly and there is fine spray too, the following phenomenon show that the scaling tip is damaged:- The vibrating intensity and the water spray degree become weak obviously.- During treatment, it produces the sound like “buzz” from the scaling tip.

4. Troubleshooting and Notes

5.1. Notice when using equipment

1. Keep the scaler clean before and after operation.2. The handpiece, scaling tip, torque wrench, endo wrench and endochuck must be sterilized before each treatment.3. Don’t screw or unscrew the scaling tip and endochuck when stepping on the foot switch4. The scaling tip must be fastened and there must be fine spray or drip coming out from the tip when you use it.5. Change a new one when the tip and ultrasonic file are damaged or worn excessively.6. Don’t twist or rub the tip and endochuck.7. If use the water source without hydraulic pressure, the water entrance should be one meter higher than the head of the patient.8. Ensure the connector of handpiece and the socket of the cable dry before installing the handpiece.9. Don’t pull the cable forcibly in case of the handpiece falling off from the cable.10. Don’t knock or rub the handpiece.11. After operation, turn off power, and pull out the plug.12. We are only responsible for the satety on the following conditions :

- The maintenance, repair and modification are made by the manufacturer or the authorized dealer.- The changed components are original of “DTE” and are operated according to instruction manual.

13. The internal screw thread of the scaling tips produced by some manufacturers maybe coarse, rusty and collapsed. This will dam-age the external screw threat of the handpiece irretrievably.

14. Clinical fluids are forbidden when the machine connects outside water source to avoid rust of the metal parts inside the machine.15.While scaler working, the heat of scaling tip will become higher if there is no water flowing out. Please keep the water flow smoothly.16. The power supply is considered as a part of ME equipment. This device can only be equipped with the special power supply

of BA International.

5.2. Contra-indications

The hemophilia disease patient is not allowed to use this equipment.The patients or doctors with heart pacemaker are forbidden to use this equipment.The heart disease patient, pregnant woman and children should be cautious to use the equipment.

5.3. Storage and maintenance

The equipment should be handled carefully and lightly. Be sure that it is installed or kept in a cool, dry and ventilated place. Don’t storethe machine together with the articles that are combustible, poisonous, caustic, and explosive.This equipment should be stored in a room where the relative humidity is ≤80%, atmospheric pressure is 50 kPa to 106 kPa, and thetemperature is -10°C to +50°C.If not use for a long time, please make the machine get through to the power and water once per month for five minutes.

5.4. Transportation

1. Excessive impact and shake must be prevented in transportation, lay it carefully and lightly and don’t invert it.2. Don’t put it together with dangerous goods during transportation.3. Avoid solarization and getting wet in rain or snow during transportation.
