Accommodations for Test Takers with Disabilities or Health-related Needs

ETS is committed to serving test takers with disabilities and health-related needs by providing services andreasonable accommodations that are appropriate given the purpose of the exam. Accommodations areavailable for test takers with diagnosed disabilities that include, but are not limited to:

Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder

Psychological or psychiatric disorders

Learning and other cognitive disabilities

Physical disorders/chronic health disabilities

Intellectual disabilities

Hearing and visual impairment

What accommodations are available?What accommodations are available?There are a lot of different accommodations available to you if you meet the Americans with Disabilities ActAmendments Act (ADAAA) disability requirements. Additionally, there are some accommodations that don'trequire that you go through the request process and get approval. Your test center can provide some items, oryou can bring them yourself. How do I request accommodations?How do I request accommodations?The request process can take six weeks. If you require accommodations, you must submit your requestBEFORE you schedule your HiSET ® exam.

Note:Note: You can complete many of the steps required for requesting accommodations through your HiSETaccount. If you are approved for certain accommodations, you can also schedule your exam through yourHiSET account.

Do you offer test preparation materials in accessible formats?Do you offer test preparation materials in accessible formats?Yes. All of our downloadable preparation materials are screen reader-accessible. You can find them on our TestPreparation Materials page.

We also have materials in other accessible formats that cannot be downloaded, such as braille, recorded audioor hard copy large print.
