The objective of the course is to familiarize students with identification, analysis, modeling and Introductory Digital Control, Discrete Systems Analysis, Sampled-Data Systems, Discrete Equivalents, Design Using Transform Techniques, Design Using State-Space Methods. Quantization Effects, Sample Rate Selection, System Identification. Pole placement controllers

Course objectives: Discuss and explain the elements of digital systems using z transform.

Design techniques using state-space, frequency response and different

type of compensator and controllers. Discuss A/D and D/C.

Topics covered: Topics1. Overview, Digital system, Control problem 2. Discrete time system, Transform methods, z-transform,

difference equations, State variables, Transfer functions, State equations.

3. Sampled data control systems, Ideal sampler, Evaluation and properties of E(s), Data reconstruction. The use of ADC and DAC converters.

4. The relationship between E (z) and E(s), Pulse transfer function, Systems with time delay, State variables models, Discrete state equations.

5. Frequency response method in z-domain.
