The idea is to create a 3D level within the Unity engine.
I started off by creating a terrain and using the raise/lower tool to make a mountainous terrain . I
also downloaded the terrain assets so that I would get a few textures like grass, rock and dirt.
I then used the smooth tool to give the terrain a natural look and also added some extra detail to the
mountain with the raise/lower tool’s opacity turned down and then smoothened the details.
I then started to add textures to the map, these include grass (hill), good dirt (to substitute for sand)
and rock&grass.
I then added a directional light to the map then, added extra bumps to the land to give the map
some more detail just so it isn’t a fully flat terrain between the mountains.
I made the directional light dimmer, so that the map looks darker. This would make it easier to
create a darker skybox for the map.
Next I added in the water. The water I used is called water4example and is a pro version with a
flowing water animation and looks much better than the basic water.
I added in a skybox, textured to look like a starry sky, to the main so that the area around the map
doesn’t dull.
Next I use the Place Trees to add a few different trees like Big Trees and Palm Trees.
I then download a new asset called Water FX Pack and added a waterfall to the mountains. I also
added an assets called volumesteam.
I then downloaded some new textures from a pack called Ground Textures and added some new
rock textures to the mountains.
Next I downloaded a new asset called Free Rocks and placed them around the water fall and a larger
rock under the water to give the land a bit more texture.
I downloaded an asset which had a horse model and added a few of those in to give the map a bit of
life.
I added a few more trees and some bushes to the map to give it a bit more colour along the terrain.
I then added a fog into the world through the edit tab on the toolbar and made it a dark grey colour
and used fog mode exponential, to give it a similar look to games like Silent Hill.
