SUNRIVER,ORE–SunriverMusicFestival,CentralOregon’sclassicalmusicexperience,isproudtoannouncetwoLinalistsfortheirnewArtisticDirector:MaestrosKellyKuoandBrettMitchell.
TheFestival’scurrentMaestroGeorgeHansonsuccessfullyendedhis10yeartenurewiththeFestivalearlierthisyearafteracceptingapositioninWashingtonD.C.

whohasacleartechniqueonthepodiumandanimpressiverapportwithaudiences,”MaestroKellyKuobringsadynamicversatilityandnuancetoadiverserepertoire,whichincludesover90operasandanexpansivesymphonicrepertoireaswell.RecentengagementshaveincludedproductionswithLyricOperaofChicago,SeattleOpera,CincinnatiOpera,IndianapolisOpera,andtheJaniecOperaCompanyoftheBrevardMusicCenterandconcertswiththeMemphisSymphonyOrchestra,MaltaPhilharmonicOrchestra,IndianapolisChamberOrchestra,LexingtonPhilharmonic,andBalletFantastique.In2008,MaestroKuobecametheLirstconductorofAsiandescenttoleadaperformanceattheLyricOperaofChicago,makinghiscompanydebutwithGershwin’sPorgyandBess.KuocontinuestoconcertizeastheonlypianisttohavestudiedwithtwopupilsofRussianvirtuosoVladimirHorowitz.
BRETTMITCHELL,currentlyMusicDirectoroftheColoradoSymphonysince2017,hasbeenhailedforpresentingengaging,in-depthexplorationsofavarietyofclassicalprograms.ThroughouthisColoradotenure,hehasledtheorchestrainthemajorityofitsclassicalperformances,aswellasawidevarietyofspecialprogramsfeaturingsuchguestartistsasRenéeFleming,Yo-YoMa,andItzhakPerlman.
From2013to2017,MaestroMitchellservedontheconductingstaffoftheClevelandOrchestra.From2007to2011,MitchellledoverahundredperformancesasAssistantConductoroftheHoustonSymphony.
Mr.Mitchellisalsoindemandasaguestconductor.His2020-21seasonfeaturesreturnengagementswiththeLosAngelesPhilharmonic,ClevelandOrchestra,andHoustonSymphony,aswellasdebutswiththeNorthCarolina,FortWorth,andPasadenasymphonies.OtherrecentguestengagementsincludetheDallas,Detroit,Indianapolis,Milwaukee,Oregon,SanAntonio,SanFrancisco,andVancouversymphonies,andatwo-weektourwiththeNewZealandSymphonyOrchestra.
