Relieving Principal’s Report – Mrs Kierin Mandas
Term 2 Week 6
Thank you to the families and friends of our school who contributed baked goods for our OMS Fundraiser this week! There were many delicious treats for the students to purchase, and all for a great cause. $805 was raised for OMS and our friend Odin.
Mr Dixon is also unwell after experiencing a serious accident a few weekends ago. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope he is better soon.
In the meantime, I am in the Relieving Principal role and Mrs Johnston will continue in her Assistant Principal role. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you need any assistance.
NAPLAN 2019
Congratulations to all of our Year 3 and Year 5 students who completed the NAPLAN tests over the last few weeks. This can be a stressful time for students, and I know the teachers have done their best to make it an easier experience.
Thank you to Mrs Smith for coordinating and to Mrs Owen and Miss Sawyer for carrying out these tests. We know that Year 3 and Year 5 enjoyed their pizza party to celebrate!

Approaching the School Policy - Parents Guide for Seeking Information and Expressing Concerns
Last year we developed a document, “Approaching the school”. This document is a guide to assist parents when contacting the school for a variety of reasons. This document provides clear direction and opportunity for both parents and staff to streamline meeting procedures to ensure all parties are well informed and prepared.
We also have our Community Charter which outlines the expectations around the behaviour and communication of our school community.
I have enclosed information regarding both of these documents in this Newsletter for your convenience.
When approaching the school, our office staff, our executive and our staff, please be mindful of manners, tone and engaging in proactive conversations. We work as a team with you to ensure your child is given access to the best education and their social and emotional cups, at school, are full.
It is important to remember that school executive have ‘zero tolerance’ for inappropriate behaviours directed at staff and students. Under Departmental Policy, further action can be taken for failure to follow the Community Charter. We lead by example and show our students and your children how to be Safe, Respectful and Responsible members of the community. Let’s continue to show our best!

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD).
All Government and non-Government schools across Australia are required to participate annually in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD).
NCCD Processes
Belmont North Public School, along with all Australian schools, is required to participate annually in the National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) on School Students with Disability. This collection of data will assist us in ensuring all students take part in all school activities on the same basis as students without a disability.
Belmont North Public School is dedicated to ensuring all students have effective and differentiated learning programs to ensure all students have the ability to succeed at school.
By law schools are required to make reasonable adjustments where needed to assist students with disability. These responsibilities are outlined in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005. At Belmont North Public School learning adjustments could be in the form of extra time to finish tasks, small group instructions, 1:1 support time, Learning and Support Teacher assistance or physical adjustments made to the environment to better support students. Students do not need to have a diagnosed disability to receive learning adjustments, however students receiving these do come under the National Consistent Collection of Data.
These learning adjustments are significant to their learning program and assist their learning style. Should you wish to discuss adjustments that might benefit your child please talk to your child's class teacher.
The NSW Department of Education will provide data to the Australian Government from all NSW public schools in such a way that no individual student or school will be able to be identified. In this way, we will ensure the privacy and confidentiality of all students.
The National Consistency Collection of Data (NCCD) will not affect your child in any way and they will not be required to undertake any additional testing.
The NSW Department of Education and Communities will provide data to the Australian Government from all NSW public schools in such a way that no individual student or school will be able to be identified. In this way, we will ensure the privacy and confidentiality of all students.
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).
If you have any questions about your child being included in the data collection please Mrs Johnston.
