Love it or hate it, building great customer
rapport is an enormously important part
of today’s marketing landscape.
Sometimes we all just need a little more love in
our lives. And on that note, we compiled these
14 tips designed to make your customers
fall in love with you all over again.
Customize it for them
Everyone wants to feel special. Evans
Hunt, a Canadian ad agency, sent out
customized sweet hearts with totally
funny, but relevant sayings on them,
including “Be My KPI.” Which I think is
so LOL.
1
Give them a little drama
High-end jeweler, Cartier, went for a
dramatic approach with their V-day
video, called The Proposal. It follows
three different couples that are about
to get engaged. Awwww….
2
Use their content
There is no better way to get a
massive amount of content fast then
user generated content. Ryanair, an
Ireland based airline, started a
contest asking flyers to capture their
travels with a heart symbol. The
winner won free airfare!
3
Make them feel all the feelings
Coca-Cola launched a Valentine’s day
that was cute as heck and made us
feel all the feels. The video features
adorable heart shaped balloons!
4
Be relatable
Oreo knows we are imperfect people,
so they released a very relatable
video about awkward, goofy,
unexpected love stories.
5
Encourage sharing
Snuggle wanted to share the love on
with cute video cards featuring
Snuggle! The cards could be
personalized and sent to your special
someone.
6
Couple up
Coffee date anyone? Match.com and
Starbucks partnered up to give
people valentine’s dates! How cute!
7
Make it interactive
FTD sent out a fun interactive
experience last year to promote a
special deal. The creative is on point,
and the added interactivity caught the
eye of last minute holiday gift buyers.
8
Show a little love
ASDA took a heart warming approach
to marketing by celebrating couples
that met at work while also allowing
consumers to send their loved one
their actual heart beat. Hubba hubba.
9
Make others feel welcome
Expanding the definition of love can
make all kinds of people feel
included. Angel Soft made a video
called Related By Love that did just
that. It featured stepparents and the
“softness” it took to love their
stepchildren.
10
Be social
Versace created custom emojis to
promote a new product line. To gain
traction they took it to social media.
They even coined their own hashtag
for the campaign–
#VersaceSharesLove
11
Make it about them
Everyone loves compliments.
American Eagle took Valentine’s Day
as an opportunity to not focus on
love and couples, but tell their
customers how good looking they
are!
12
Be funny
Many couples head out for a fancy
dinner and wine on the holiday of
love, but what about Netflix and chill?
Netflix took a humorous angle
reminding couples that there has
never been a better day to curl up
next to your honey and binge hours
upon hours of your favorite tv.
13
Offer a service
Some people are not great at
expressing their feelings. Telaflora
knows this so they offered their
customers a love letter writing service
that is swoon worthy.
14
Take any or all of these ideas and thread
them into your own brand’s marketing. It
doesn’t have to be hard; a little bit goes a
long way. If all else fails remember to show
your customers you love them, at the very
least.
