¡  The  giveaway  should  be  something  related  to  your  industry  §  Logo  on  pens  are  typical  (must  

work!)  ¡  Think  practical  and  useful  –  

don’t  waste  your  money  on  unnecessary  items  like  gum!  

¡  Don’t  give  without  getting  something  in  return  §  Collect  contact  information  –easy  

and  fun  §  Disclose  what  you  plan  to  do  

¡  Always  pair  it  with  a  call-­‐to-­‐action  or  product  collateral  §  Hand  it  to  them  together  not  leave  

it  out  for  them  to  pick

¡  Be  at  the  event  early  §  1  hour  to  network  §  Personal  time  

¡  Ask  the  organizer  who  they  think  you  should  talk  to  at  the  event  

¡  Let  the  community  know  if  you  are  going  to  be  there  early  

¡  Stay  later  when  possible  §  Let  the  audience  know  that  

you  will  be  around  until  a  certain  time    

§  Broadcast  alternative  methods  to  connect  via  email  or  twitter

¡  Set  email  update  frequency
