FORMATIONS AND MOTIONS
Miscellaneous Words and Meanings
• Rodeo- Rollout right• Lasso- Rollout left• Flame- Play action Fake Left• Fire- Play action Fake Right• Solid- play action fake away from screen• Jail- screen where o-line vertical sets and whiffs• 80’s- means 90’s with play action fake of 32• Cop- means corner-post• Smoke- running play, sprint draw• Squeeze- means tighten entire formation
MOTIONS
• Call out letter of player to go in motion followed by what kind of motion (example): Z-move, or H-fly, or F-Maim, etc.
• ALL motions should be fast/then slide 2-3 yards before ending position
• Move-Motion to other side of ball• Fly- Motion in towards ball or motion into
backfield without crossing ball.• Orbit-Motion past center and return• Mob- Motion across ball and sift block DE• Maim-Fly motion and “wham” playside DE
WORDS THAT SPEAK TO Z
• Late: Moves Z inside of Y.
• Flip: Moves Z to left side and inside of X.
• Flop: Moves Z to left side and outside of X.
• Rip: Moves Y off of LOS and Z on LOS.
• Left-If Y-moves to left side- Z moves onto the LOS
WORDS THAT SPEAK TO Y
• Y is always on the right side and inside unless the word LEFT is used
• YO: Places Y in a TE position on the right side• Rip: Y is off LOS and Z is on LOS• Late: Y and Z swap positions , Y STAYS ON but
moves outside AND Z STAYS OFF• Left: Means Y lines up on Left side-off ball and
3-4 yards outside left tackle
WORDS THAT SPEAK TO H
• Ace: 2 x 2 set, With X on the LOS outside and H off inside to the left. Z and Y are regular.
• Dart: 2 x 2 set, Moves H outside of X on the Left.
• Early: Trips Right. Moves H to the right side and BETWEEN Z and Y.
• Empty- Align same as Ace • Bo – Moves H outside of X on the Left.
Words that Speak to F
• Empty means leave backfield
• Empty “Frank”-align between Y and Z on Right
• Empty “Fill”-Align between H and X on Left
• Other alignment tips-if trips, align away from trips in backfield unless play call keeps you on that side
Words that speak to X
• X is always on the left side and always on the LOS unless Deuce or moved off by other receivers request.
• Dart moves X inside of H
• Bo moves X inside of H
• Deuce moves X off ball
• Flop moves X inside of Z
• Tite-moves X into tight-end alignment
